Tom Everette has successfully completed Britain’s most brutal race – the Montane Summer Spine Race, one of the UK’s toughest endurance events.

The race follows the entire 268-mile Pennine Way, taking runners from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in the Scottish Borders through some of the most remote and challenging terrain in the country. With over 37,000ft of ascent, it tests competitors far beyond the demands of a traditional ultramarathon.

The Spine is a self-supported event. Runners must carry essential kit, manage their own nutrition, hydration and foot care, and make critical decisions while battling fatigue and sleep deprivation.

With only limited checkpoints, runners are largely left to fend for themselves, often sleeping on the trail and spending long periods alone in remote countryside. Success depends not only on physical fitness but also careful planning, resilience, and the ability to overcome the inevitable highs and lows that come with spending multiple days on the move.

Tom has shown he has everything it takes to complete this race – perseverance, dedication, grit and determination. The club was rooting for you every step of the way. You are truly inspiring to us and the wider running community.

🏃🏻 268+ miles
⛰️ 10,732m ascent
⏱️ 131hrs 11mins 9secs

What an incredible achievement, Tom. The entire Puma family is immensely proud of you 🐯

Let’s not forget the kids who attended NR5 too! 👧🏼🧒🏻

We had a mini kids’ run, a relay, a mini obstacle course, and of course the bouncy castle to keep them entertained all morning.

Such well-mannered youngsters, and some blisteringly fast ones too - future Pumas in the making! We hope they enjoyed it as much as Gabby, our junior coach, and Rachel, our run leader, did. They certainly kept them on their toes. Some of the parents tried too, only the kids were better 😜

Thank you for joining us, and we hope to see you all again next year! 🏰

Last Sunday was another big event in the Puma calendar, the Bradford Millennium Way Relays hosted by Saltaire Striders.

BMW covers approximately 47 miles, with the route split into five legs. Each leg is completed by a pair of runners, creating teams of ten participants.

This year we had three teams. That’s 30 runners, some doing their first-ever team event, others who have been part of every single BMW. Two members have appeared in every BMW for the Pumas - Aaron Bower and Andrew Tudor 👏🏻

Congratulations and fab running from all three teams:

🟡 Vets: Chris Newton & Steve Earle, Joseph Schewtschuk & Deke Banks, Aaron Bower & Steve Chambers, Lisa Hirst & James Holmes, Scott Puma & Neal Rider

⚫️ Open 1: Darren Attwood & Sean Hammond, Liz Lund & Kathryn Cleaver, Keith Birkhead & Andy Haslam, Jodie Knowles & Kate Owram, Andrew Tudor & Jon Ding,

🔴 Open 2: Gail Bailey & Natalie Provan, Andrew Puma & Tiffany Lewis, Anthony Wardle & Jay Graham, Demelza Bottomly & John Williams, Alan Sykes & Brian Colman,

⭐️Highlights:
•The vets team came 8th overall - Pumas’ highest-ever finish in the BMW.
•We also came 🥉 in the vets category, our highest finish in a category.
•Joseph and Deke finished 4th on leg 2

⭐️⭐️Two club leg records went:
Aaron and Steve took the all-time record on Leg 3
Jodie and Kate took the ladies’ record on Leg 4.
Smashed it, team! 👏🏻

And what we love most is that all 30 runners had a great day. Team spirit is on 🔥. Be sure to sign up next year and let’s grow our entries 🐯

And a shout-out to our fab club captains, Dawn Higgins and Aaron Bower, for organising the teams 👏🏻🙌🏻

Pictures in leg order 📸

Elsewhere, we had Emma Lassey, Paul Stockdale, Tom Lemanski and Paul Wojtas tackle the Ilkley 10K, all running great times 👏🏻

And the final trio were at the Grimsby 10K, starting from the iconic Great Grimsby Town Hall. A fast route that caters for all, so congratulations to Blair Buss, Bryn Baker and Kimberly Tipling 👏🏻

Another great day of racing to round up a fab weekend from our Puma family. Proud as always 👏🏻
