Pictured are Ryburn’s rounders leaders for the primary school event.

They organised fun games and matches for over 100 primary school pupils.

The Year 10 rugby league team started the game superbly against strong opposition. Coming up the slope at Featherstone, Thomas Heald, Alex Kershaw and Leeland Ogden carried hard and made excellent metres. Brogan Bowler’s kick wasn’t dealt with, Leo Robinson collected the bouncing ball before feeding a rampaging Ogden on his inside, Bowler converted. In similar fashion, Ryburn carried well from the kick off, the outstanding Ernie Hammond sniped well before another Bowler kick was allowed to bounce, this time into the arms of Bobby Taylor who scampered over from 30 metres out.

Liberty eventually managed to get some possession and started to show their class. Controlling the ball superbly and scoring five great tries. HT 10-26.

The Hull based team continued to dominate as Ryburn struggled to get a hold of the ball. Never giving in but conceding at regular intervals. FT 10-54.

The squad can be extremely proud of their efforts tonight and this season. Calderdale Cup winners, Yorkshire Cup runners up, & National Cup Quarter Finalists. A superb set of lads to work with and bright futures ahead.

Ryburn are Year 8 Football Calderdale Cup CHAMPIONS!!!!! 🥳🏆

The Ryburn Year 8 football team has secured the Calderdale Schools FA Cup. Following a narrow defeat in last year’s final, the squad demonstrated exceptional resilience to defeat a strong North Halifax Grammar School side, who currently hold the West Yorkshire Schools FA Cup.

Ryburn established an early lead within the first three minutes when an accurate corner from Dewick allowed Dodson to secure the opening goal with a powerful header. The advantage was doubled at the 20-minute mark through a characteristically clinical finish from Parker.
With a two-goal lead, Ryburn settled into a sophisticated tactical rhythm. The defensive coordination between Jowett, Ferris, Hooson, and Davidson, paired with the midfield control of Parker, Topham, Dewick, and Boyd, demonstrated a level of maturity well beyond their years.

While Dodson and Stephenson consistently pressured the North Halifax defence, Ryburn's third goal arrived in the second half, with Parker finishing calmly under pressure. A definitive highlight of the match was a remarkable save by goalkeeper Isaac Moorhouse, who deflected a powerful, top-corner shot onto the crossbar.
The introduction of Boyes and Leonard up front brought renewed energy to the pitch whilst Whitehead added strength in defence.

With ten minutes remaining, North Halifax converted a clear penalty to alter the scoreline. However, Ryburn managed the closing stages of the game with great composure, maintaining their lead despite adverse hail conditions to secure the silverware.

Congratulations to the squad on an outstanding season. We look forward to their continued success in the 2026/27 campaign.

Congratulations to Year 10 pupil Lola Meade, who was part of the cup winning Manchester United squad at the weekend.

A superb effort off Logan to win the Yorkshire challenge belt off a fine champion. Boxing under pressure from the off he kept his boxing together to gain a split decision win.
