🏏 FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON! 🏏

Our 1st Team are away at Billingham today for their final game of the cricket season! 🏆

After an amazing season and WINNING THE LEAGUE, the lads will be heading back to the club afterwards to continue the celebrations! 🍻🏆👏

🍺 The clubhouse is open from 12pm today, with live football on the big screen throughout the day. ⚽📺

As the cricket season comes to a close, our opening hours will soon be changing for the winter months and will be based more around live football and events at the club.

Last week Blackhall Development XI win the Ted Hodgkiss Cup to cap off an excellent first season.

A long day began as they beat Sacriston in the first semi-final with a 10am start. Inspirational skipper Dylan Elliott won the toss and putting them into bat. Sacriston scored 117/8 in their 20 overs which was probably 20 more than they should as the early start meant our fielding was below standard. Wickets shared around including two each for our juniors Nathan de Bruijn and Tommy (Happy) Laing. We comfortably reached our target with three overs to spare, helped by an unbeaten half century from James Dawson.

Onto the final and Dylan showcased his excellent tossing skills with another win. We asked Ryton to bat hoping to replicate our earlier chase. Ryton scored 105/8. Helped by Big Fish Daniel Robson taking two early wickets and five from the Laing brothers (Alfie 3, Happy 2) and another for de Bruijn we were confident at the half way point. James Dawson anchored the innings with another unbeaten 42 aided by Daniel Robson hitting 36 off 22 balls for a comfortable win with 27 balls to spare.

An amazing end to our first year with a development side. Six juniors played in the final and more than a dozen have featured over the season. Huge thanks to everyone who has contributed in setting the team up, especially our charismatic Team Manager Michael Laing…

🏆 BLACKHALL 1ST XI ARE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! 🏆

What a day at Blackhall Welfare Park as Blackhall 1st XI secured the Division 3 Championship in a massive game against Newton Aycliffe CC.

With Blackhall needing a result to lift the title and Newton Aycliffe needing victory to secure promotion, there was everything to play for. The tension was there from the first ball!

Newton Aycliffe won the toss and elected to field.

Blackhall openers James Dawson and Paul Moss made a steady start, reflecting the consistency they have shown throughout the season. Moss was eventually dismissed for a well-made 18, bringing Jack Ward to the crease at number three.

Jack played an excellent innings, scoring 51 from 61 balls, before James Dawson continued his superb season with a composed 49.

Kieron Lowery then came in and produced a fantastic cameo, smashing 28 from just 23 balls, helping Blackhall finish on 183 all out.

Newton Aycliffe’s strong batting line-up got off to a positive start, with Thomas Dearden and William Dearden putting together a solid opening partnership.

But Blackhall weren’t going to be denied.

The ever-consistent Anthony Newton opened the bowling and produced another outstanding spell, bowling his 10 overs for just 16 runs.

Then came Pat Savarimuthu, who turned the game in Blackhall’s favour with a brilliant 4 wickets for 23 runs.

It was another example of the strength in depth that has been such a huge part of Blackhall’s success this season. From the 1st XI to the development and Thursday teams, everyone has played their part in building something special at the club.

Blackhall captain Dan Robson said:

> “It’s been an absolutely fantastic season. I’m very proud of the lads. They have done fantastic. We are planning already for next year.”

A huge congratulations to Dan, the players, coaches, volunteers, supporters and everyone connected with Blackhall Cricket Club.

After a season of hard work, commitment and turning up week after week, the result is finally here.

We’re also holding our Past & Present Players Day, so we’d love to see former players back at the club, catch up with old faces and enjoy some lovely food provided by the club.

🔥 BLACKHALL 1ST XI v NEWTON AYCLIFFE 1ST XI🔥

Blackhall take on 2nd-placed Newton Aycliffe up the Welfare Park on Saturday in what could be the biggest game in the club’s recent history and potentially the game that decides who is crowned league champions! 🏆

Newton Aycliffe come into the game full of confidence after impressive victories over Sedgefield and Maltby, so the lads will need plenty of support from the sidelines. 💪

It’s also our Past & Present Players Day, so there’ll be plenty going on at the club:

🎉 BLACKHALL 1ST XI SECURE PROMOTION! 🎉

Blackhall’s 1st XI produced another excellent performance at Normanby Hall, securing promotion with a comprehensive victory with seven overs to spare! 🏏

Normanby Hall won the toss and elected to bat, posting 128 for Blackhall to chase. Joe Swallow and Pat Savarimuthu were the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets apiece, with Sush Maddalla also contributing with two wickets.

With rain forecast, there was added pressure on Blackhall’s run chase. Paul Moss and James Dawson got the innings off to a steady start, putting on 31 for the first wicket before Moss was caught at first slip off a good delivery.

Three quick wickets followed, but Dylan Elliott came in to steady the ship, playing a sensible innings of 33. James Dawson carried his bat through the innings, finishing unbeaten on 53 as Blackhall comfortably reached their target.

The 25 points gained mean Blackhall have secured promotion! One Final Push
