Unfortunately it wasnt my time.
Took an L last night against a decent opponent.
I started off really strong, fair to say i took the first round. Swept him off his feet within the first 10 seconds then went on to land a lovely body shot followed by a big knee dropping my opponent to the canvas for an 8 count. The knees was working and i was implementing my game plan well, pressuring forward into the clinch.
Second round was pretty much the same, he came out fast and we had a good back and forth throwing hands kicks knees and utilising the clinch.
Round three was pretty much straight into clinch again working the knees, managed to land a cheeky sweep again from in the clinch, And the body shot to knee was still working. I started to use my hands a little more but then i took a step back and got caught with a right hook dropping me for an 8 count just before the bell.
Naturally he came out fast in round 4 to try and capitalise but i tied him straight up into the clinch again. I came out slow to start with but felt like i was back in the fight by around half way through the round.
Round 5. I believe this is the round that edged him the fight, i started very slow and admittedly took my foot off the gas a little. Still throwing and landing combinations just not with enough volume. He continued to try and pressure forward so i tied him up into the clinch again and landed some more knees.
It wasnt my worst performance but it wasnt my best either. What makes it worst tho is knowing im capable of better. Losing is a very bitter pill to swallow, especially when its something that means so much to you. But that being said losing is part of learning, its part of muay thai, and its certainly part of life. I want to thank everyone who has played a part in this camp or generally in my life. You know who you are. Regrettably we didnโt bring the belt home but this isnt the end.
