Your Time Pilates

You don’t need to be a women’s health physio, a trauma therapist, or a GP to be a damn good postnatal Pilates specialist.

Here’s the bit that winds me up: most postnatal training doesn’t go deep enough. You’re taught a few “safe” exercises, what not to do, just enough to feel cautious, not confident.

Nobody teaches you how to screen properly, how to spot red flags before they spiral, or how to refer out without it feeling like failure.

Your training didn’t give you what you actually needed.

That’s not on you. That’s the industry that keeps things complicated, because complicated keeps you buying the next qualification instead of using the one you've got.

I'll tell you a secret: I've done the first three chapters of more courses than I can count, nodding along like a nutter, and never once done the exercises at the back of the chapter. Got bored, didn’t finish, nothing changed. Just me? That's what buying more training does if nobody makes you actually use it.

Beyond the PAR-Q fixes that. Not another thing to file away. A system you'll actually use, starting with your very next client:
✅ A specialist screening flow you use BEFORE a session, not hoping a client just tells you
✅ Red flag recognition, in plain English
✅ Clear scope and referral confidence, so you know exactly when to say "not for me, but I know someone who can help"

https://yourtimepilates-bpq.netlify.app/

Here’s what happened when Rachel started screening before the mat, not during it "Before, I was using a generic form from my insurance company and constantly second-guessing myself. Now I have a clear system, I know what to ask, and I don't spiral when a client shares something complex."

SHOW ME THE SYSTEM
https://yourtimepilates-bpq.netlify.app/

The magic isn't in memorising every condition.

It's in asking the right questions, listening properly, and knowing when you can help and when to hand someone off.

This £39 workshop clears the fog, so you're actually using what you learn from the moment you leave.

Join us. Let's build the kind of confidence that doesn't rely on guesswork.

PS: if you've ever bought a course, felt fired up for a week, then let it gather dust, that's not going to happen here. Beyond the PAR-Q's built to be used from your very next client, not filed away for whenever you feel ready.

P.P.S: can't join live? There's a limited time replay for five days so you can watch it when you’re ready

"I don't want to give the wrong exercise in case I make things worse." 😬

That's the thing I hear most from instructors working with postnatal clients.

You care enough to want to be ready for whatever shows up in class. But how are you supposed to prep for what you don't know is coming? 🤷‍♀️

She doesn't mention the diastasis that's still there six months on. Doesn't say her C-section scar pulls when she reaches overhead. Doesn't tell you about the pad she's wearing just in case.

Then she drops it on you mid-session, and you're standing there thinking: right, now what the f*ck do I do?! 😳

Zero warning. Nowhere to prep. Just you, her, and a class plan that was never built for what she just told you. 🚨

That's not on you. That's the PAR-Q you were handed at your quals, never built to catch any of this.

Avoidable, once you know what to ask before she's on the mat, not mid-class. ✅

Beyond the PAR-Q is how - a live 60-minute workshop with yours truly, 29th Sept, 1pm, replay available. Doors open now. 👇

LIVE CPD WORKSHOP FOR PILATES INSTRUCTORS Tuesday 29th September · 1pm UK

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻:

Every scary moment you've ever had with a postnatal client is avoidable. 😳

Yep, you read that right.

But not if you're still screening with the same PAR-Q you got handed on your quals.

It asks about heart conditions. Medications. Whether she's been "cleared for exercise."

It does not ask about birth trauma. Leaking when she coughs. Pelvic heaviness. How her C-section scar actually feels, eight months on. Whether she's mentally ready to be in your class at all.

That form was built for general fitness (and men!). 🙄 Not for a body six weeks or six months postpartum.

If you're still using it, you're not screening, you're guessing with extra paperwork.

Beyond the PAR-Q is the live workshop I built to fix that - 60 minutes, 29th Sept, 1pm. Replay available. Doors are open. 👇

📝 NEW C-SECTION EXERCISE CHECKER TOOL 📝
I've been building something and I'm genuinely excited about it.
You know the C-section guide, the 3-stage PDF I put out earlier this year?
I've been watching how people actually use it since, and the honest answer is most of you download it, skim it once, and then three weeks later a client asks a real question and you can't for the life of you remember which stage she's in.
That's the format's fault, not yours. Nobody remembers a PDF.
So I've rebuilt it as something you actually open in the moment instead. Tell it where your client is post-op and it tells you what's appropriate right now, what to avoid, and what needs to happen before you progress her. No digging back through a document trying to jog your memory mid-session.
If you've already got the original, genuinely, bin it. This one does the job it was always meant to do.

Would love to know what you think of this one, especially if you're one of the people who grabbed the original.

Quick one, because I know it's end of term and life is hectic AF but I don't want you to miss out.

At midnight tonight the retreat workshop stops being £39. After that it's £89, lifetime access only.

https://yourtimepilates.thrivecart.com/retreat-training-5day/

I've been spying with my little eye. I've seen some of you you clicking and opening. So I know I've planted a little seed in there this week.🌱

I'd love to help you turn this idea you've been mulling over into an actual thing - something amazing for your clients that also brings you some proper cash.

So if there's something holding you back, just ask. 👋

Even if it's "can I buy now but start my 5 days in a few weeks, because the summer holidays are about to land on me?" - sure thing, sugar. You only have to ask. (Because, full disclosure, I didn't exactly think through the timing of this launch. End of term. What was I thinking?!)

Otherwise, let's go!

One instructor in here said something last week that I think a lot of you are quietly thinking:
"I'm not sure retreats are financially viable. I've heard horror stories about people making losses."
She's right. It happens. And it happens for boringly avoidable reasons - people book the venue before they've priced the day, hire a £400 room they can't fill, buy the goody bags and the branded water bottles, and the whole thing turns into an expensive gift they've paid to throw for their own clients.
Done in the right order, it's the opposite. It's the most profitable afternoon in your calendar.
My actual numbers from June: Wimbledon Common. Six women, £75 each. £450 in. Costs? Massage oil, reflexology tools and a bag of crisps. Twenty quid, and only that much because the ch*****ne was already in my cupboard. No venue hire, because I didn't hire a venue.
£430 profit. For an afternoon in a woodland ten minutes from my house.
Here's the bit I actually want you to hear though. They loved it so much they started asking about the next one before they'd rolled up their mats. So on Monday I put September's retreat on sale - and three of them paid me by lunchtime. I'm taking all of August off, and I've already been paid for a retreat I won't run until the kids are back at school.
That's what "financially viable" actually looks like. Not a huge launch. Not a big following. One afternoon a quarter, sold to the clients you already have.
I've put the whole thing - the order you do it in, the pricing, the venue maths, the presell that fills the next one before you've even booked it - into a workshop this week.
It's in my email today. Not on my list? Comment 🌿 and I'll get you the details.

For years I had a story running in my head that retreats were for other instructors.

You know the ones. Big Instagram following, professional photos, "last 2 spots for Bali!!" posts. I'd see them, think "well that's not me", and close the app.

Sound familiar? Because if you clicked A on my poll last week (retreats sound stressful), I'd put money on some version of that story running in your head too.

So let me tell you about my last retreat, three weeks ago.
It was on Wimbledon Common. A woodland, ten minutes from my house. Six women, six mats, one afternoon. £75 each.

My costs? Massage oil, reflexology tools and a bag of crisps. About £20 all in, because the bottle of ch*****ne was already in the cupboard at home.

No villa. No chef. No Tuscany. £450 in, £20 out, and six women who left glowing and immediately asked when the next one is.

Here's what I've learned running these: your qualification taught you to teach, but nobody ever taught you to run an event. That's the actual gap. Not confidence, not followers, not a fancy venue. The venue maths, the timings, the pricing, what to do about food, insurance, wet weather. Event stuff. Completely learnable, almost never taught.

So I've put everything I know about it into a workshop: How to Host a Stress-Free and Profitable Postnatal Pilates Retreat.
👉 OOOH give me all the deets:
https://yourtimepilates.thrivecart.com/retreat-training-5day/

The whole system - choosing a venue that doesn't eat your profit, pricing it properly, structuring the day, filling the spaces. The exact process behind that afternoon on the Common.
It's on-demand, so you can start it tonight if you want. Watch it this week, plan your first retreat for autumn.

The workshop is available for £39 until midnight Friday 17th July - that's 5 days' access starting whenever you buy, so there's no penalty for thinking it over. Lifetime (£89) is on the same checkout if you want it for keeps and watch over the summer holiday instead.

After Friday, the workshop is only available at £89 for lifetime access.

Quick question for you this week, and there's a freebie in it for answering.

Whenever I mention hosting Pilates retreats, instructors tend to file it in one of two places. "One day, maybe" or "F**k no, sounds like a nightmare."

Which is funny, because a retreat doesn't need to be a week in Bali with 30 clients and a chef. Mine are an afternoon, either out in a forest or local venue, and 8-10 mats.

A few hours of teaching, clients who leave buzzing, and more money from one Sunday afternoon than a week of group classes.

So I want to know where your head's at. Comment with the letter of the one that's closest:

A - I'd love to, but it all seems so stressful

B - Never really thought about it... but go on, I'm intrigued

C - I already run retreats

D - No thanks, retreats ain't my jam

If you commented either A, B or C and I'll send you my Retreat Cheat Sheet for free, (it's usually £7).

It's the one-page version of how I plan mine. Venue, numbers, what to charge, and the timings that stop the whole thing eating your life.

And if you're in camp A... keep an eye on your inbox next week. I've got something that deals with the stressful part properly.

I am terrible at online workshops.
I've usually got a wash on, one ear on whatever's happening downstairs, and I'm only half there. I never catch the replay. Anyone else?
Something about being in a room just makes me learn differently. And there's a bit I really miss about in-person too: being around other instructors. Teaching can be lonely, can't it? You're mostly on your own, getting on with it. A day in a room with people who work with the same clients and care about the same things is its own kind of brilliant.
So on 11 July, Lara Painting and I are doing something about it.
Our first ever in-person training day for pre and postnatal modifications. In London. Together. Six hours, hands on, small group, real questions answered in real time. No chat box. No washing machine.
Everyone takes home a printed pocket book too: 34 modified exercises, straight in your kit bag.
📅 11 July | 🕒 10am-4pm | 📌 St Michael's Church, Wandsworth Common, London | 💰 £225
