THANK YOU to everyone who came down for this event, had fun, smashed out 60 minutes of cardio, all for the name of Charity.

There were some serious vibes ☀️

It was lovely seeing 50+ of you all working together.

Thank you to everyone who purchased a baked good (there’s still time to donate if you forgot by heading to the link in our story).

Big thank you to some of the members of who came over and brought the noise - it was lovely to have you with us.

Special shoutout to who spent hours putting this event together, from allocating (and reallocating 👀) the heats, building the spreadsheets - to writing the score cards - you did proper great.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐉𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐚 - 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 🥲

Joana started as a member at ‘etc’ over at our Long Buckby site, because she wanted to do something for herself. She hadn’t been training as often as she’d like, and found she had no motivation to do it on her own 🤜🤛

She became a Founding Member and has gone from strength to strength (literally)

A little bit about her…

➡️ She left her full time job in 2018 as a Senior Cardiac Physiologist, so she could prioritise bringing up her two daughters (who love ponies!)

➡️ She has Masters Degree in Cardiac and Respiratory Physiology, is a Certified Pre and Post Natal Specialist, and of course, she’s a qualified PT - too.

She’s a right smarty pants.

Above all else, she’s a pretty lovely and wonderful human ❤️

She’s doing some coaching bits at our Long Buckby site, so you’ll be seeing more of her around.

Joana is Portuguese, and she has informed me that Portuguese people don’t eat Nando’s but other than that we think she’s pretty awesome.

Give her a warm welcome to our new Tallest Coach please!

‘𝐞𝐭𝐜’ 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛: 𝐀𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 🏔️

An Epic Adventure with etc members, as they hike up Mount Toubkal, in the Atlas Mountains.

Sarah, Dan, Nadine and Gilly spent 4 days in Morocco (with the incredible .expeditions )

Some of them, would have never have dreamt to do something like this, but now fitter and stronger than ever - an exciting adventure like this is something to be enjoyed and experienced. As we continue to say, “the gym” isn’t there to just be “good at gym” - it’s to facilitate a better life.

We’re super proud of you guys, we know a lot of work went into this.

“𝐈’𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞”

Thanks Heather, we love you too.

It hasn’t been a walk in the park, yet losing 37kg is never going to be easy.

They’ll be tears. They’ll be moments of doubt.

They’ll be times where you want to give up.

Then, they’ll be times you celebrate with your “gym friend” and go for a McDonalds 🍔 😂

Trust. The. Process.

I wish I could tell there was a secret, but there isn’t.

We can show you the door, but you have to walk through, and my goodness…Heather didn’t just walk through the door - she kicked it down.

Having a team of people by your side, a great group of friends and people who want to see you win, can really be the difference to your “success”

Look at the people around 𝐲𝐨𝐮 - do they want to see you achieve amazing things?

𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Had lots of conversations with new members joining us at ‘etc’ this month - we always want to find out where that person is at and why they’ve looked to get onboard with us.

Typically, it comes down to 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 as to why the “gym system” hasn’t worked for them, and why somewhere like us fills that gap for them.

🧿 They Didn’t Have a Clear Plan

Most people walk into a gym with good intentions but no real direction. They jump between machines, follow random workouts online, and hope for the best.

They get shown around for an “induction” given a program card to follow and left to their own devices.

➡️ At ‘etc’ Every session is programmed for you by expert coaches. No guesswork. No random workouts. Just a structured plan designed to get results. We are on hand, the whole time.



🧿 2. No Accountability
Motivation is great… until life gets busy.

When nobody notices if you turn up, skip sessions, or stop progressing, it’s easy to drift away from your goals.

➡️At ‘etc’ You’re part of a coaching community. We know your name, your goals, and your progress. You’ll always have support, encouragement, and accountability.



🧿3. No Coaching
Access to equipment doesn’t guarantee results.

Poor technique, inconsistent effort, and uncertainty about what to do next stop many people from making real progress.

➡️ At ‘etc’: Every session is coach-led. We guide your technique, adjust exercises when needed, and make sure you’re getting the most from every workout.



The Difference?

A commercial gym gives you access to equipment and rented space.

‘etc’ gives you a plan, a coach, and a community.

That’s why so many people start exercising…

But so few achieve their full potential.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 ‘𝐞𝐭𝐜’ 𝐑𝐮𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 🌎 🚌

As per our email a few weeks ago, we’re hosting our Run Club Tour or Northampton, which starts on 1st June @ Salcey Forest!

We are taking run club on a summer tour around Northampton. Every first Monday of the month, from June to September, we will be running 5k at different locations around the county.

Run club will continue as normal on the Racecourse outside these dates.

Please meet promptly at 5.50 pm again as normal. More information can be found on Team Up. 

❇️1st June 2026 - 5k at Salcey Forest, meet at 5.45 pm

❇️ 6th July 2026 - 5k at Sywell, meet at 5.50 pm 

❇️ 10th August 2026 - 5k at Upton Country Park, meet at 5.50 pm

❇️ 7th September 2026 - 5k at Pitsford Reservoir, meet at 5.50 pm

𝐀𝐭 𝐄𝐓𝐂, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐫.

We sometimes get bogged down with data
