Hello lovely parkrunners

We just want to alert you to the fact that we are expecting the park and car parks to be busy on Saturday.

Why is this? There is another running event, ABBA themed, happening later in the morning. They will be setting up early and we anticipate participants will be arriving as we finish up our parkrun and parkrunners leave the car parks.

As a thank you for sharing the park the organisers are offering all Norwich parkrun runners 15% off entry. You can use the code PARKRUNNORWICH at www.runfanatics.com.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday!

Wow!

Thank you all so much for your donations! So much and so quickly- it’s very heartening to know that we can count on your support.

We now have more than enough back in the piggy bank to replace some ageing kit and still leave a cushion for contingencies, so please don’t donate anymore to us: as we said previously we don’t like to sit on more money than we immediately need.

Thank you again from all of us at Norwich parkrun.

Funds needed.

We pride ourselves on putting on parkrun each week without spending money unnecessarily. In the sixteen years that we’ve been going we’ve spent about £2,300 in total and try not to hold more money than we need to in our ‘pot’.

We’ve just had to spend £160 on replacement batteries for the radios our marshals use on the course (the first replacement in six years) and this has more or less emptied our piggy bank. We have a couple of other bits of kit that are slowly falling apart and need replacing, and we like to keep a small cushion of cash in case of emergencies so we’re asking our parkrunners if you could make a small donation.

To do this, go to the home page on our website (https://www.parkrun.org.uk/norwich/) click on “more…” in the menu at the top, then “about us” and click on the purple banner that says “donate to this event” in the middle of the page. The system will then guide you through the donations process.

There is a yellow ‘Donate’ button on the homepage, but any cash donated via that route will go to parkrun centrally, not Norwich, so please follow the steps above.

Parkrun remains free for everyone involved so please don’t feel any obligation to donate.

Thanks for your help.

Event number 771
19th September 2026

A warm but breezy morning for parkrun. 533 people completed the course, including 58 first timers. 50 people recorded PBs. Well done, everyone. 17 people were doing their very first parkrun. We really hope you enjoyed it and will come back next week.

Lots to celebrate this week: It was Matt Goode’s birthday, and Jonathan Kirby completed his 100th parkrun. Two of our regulars completed their 100th stint as a volunteer: Phillip Bazley (usually one of our Timekeepers) and Sally Greatham (one of our Run Directors but taking on the role of Tailwalker today). Huge thanks and well done both of you.

We also said farewell to Sam Clark who started as a DofE volunteer with us in 2023 and is now off to university. Good luck in Leeds, Sam, and we hope you’ll come back to run/volunteer with us again in the holidays.

We had a visiting group from Great Notley in Essex. One of the visitors (Caroline Minor) was volunteering for the 400th time today. Thanks for choosing to celebrate such a great milestone with us, Caroline! And now there’s a new milestone tee-shirt to mark it, too. Whoop! Whoop! Two other visitors from Great Notley (Aimee and Diane) will be writing a run report. We’ll upload that when it’s ready.

A big thank you to all today’s volunteers. It wouldn’t happen without you all.

Perfect conditions for parkrun this morning! 532 people completed the course, including 71 first timers. 66 people recorded PBs. Well done all of you. 26 people were doing their very first parkrun this morning. We really hope you enjoyed it and will come back for more.

Congratulations to Alison Mosca who has completed 150 parkruns, and to Moira Richards who has volunteered 50 times. Many thanks, Moira, especially for all the support you have given to people through being Tail Walker or Parkwalker.

Today was Pete Chambers’ last volunteering stint as Run Director. Pete is stepping down from the role but hopes to be back as a volunteer for future events. We marked his departure with some delicious banana cake (apparently made with bananas left over after last week’s RunNorwich 10k!). Thank you, Pete, for all you’ve done for Norwich parkrun - over 10+ years - and thank you, Mary, for the cake.

A big thank you to all today’s volunteers. It wouldn’t happen without you all.

A beautiful morning for parkrun. Blue skies, sunshine and a cooling breeze. We had 459 participants, including 48 first timers. 53 people recorded PBs. 11 people were doing their VERY FIRST parkrun. We really hope you enjoyed it and will be back next week. Well done, everyone!

We celebrated milestones: Vicky Slota, Grace Cordeaux and Tara Haworth (visiting from the Peak District) all completed their 50th parkrun. Matt Cooke completed his 100th and Astra Richardson her 250th. Great achievements, all of you.

Congratulations to Martin Watson who turns 70 in the coming days and will move to a brand-new age group! Whoop! Whoop! Martin did his first Norwich parkrun back in 2010 and, as well as notching up 164 parkruns, he is one of our regular Run Directors and has volunteered 174 times. It was great to see Martin enjoying a celebratory parkrun today, with his family. Congratulations and thank you, Martin.
