The Constance Grant Dance Centre was established over 90 years ago by the late Constance Grant and her husband the late Harry Silvester. Their combined talents soon developed a large school of high standards. This tradition was carried forward by their daughter, the late Judith Silvester and is now continued by their granddaughters Tracey Southern and Karen Siddall. The school covers all aspects of theatre dance and succeeds in training children and adults for social achievement, the professional theatre and teacher training. The successes of its pupils and students over the years are too numerous to mention and the school has always worked on a policy of hard work, achievement and a happy atmosphere. All the staff hold qualifications with the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA).

Pre-School & Reception Dance Classes🩰

We know that becoming more independent can feel daunting for little ones. Here at CGDC we make those first steps into dance as welcoming, simple and reassuring as possible🫶🏼.

Here’s what your little dancer can expect when they arrive at the studio:

👋🏻Greeted by our friendly staff👋🏻
Our friendly staff will welcome your child with a big smile and help them take their first steps into the studio.

🎒A special place for their belongings🎒
Coats, shoes and dance bags go safely into their own cubby.

⭐Find a space to wait⭐️
Your little one will then find a space to sit and wait, ready for their teacher and friends.

🎶Enjoy the dancing🎶
Then it’s time to have fun, explore movement, learn new skills and enjoy being part of our dance family.

We understand that every child is different. Some will walk in confidently, while others may need a little more reassurance — and that’s okay.

Those little moments of independence are such big achievements🌟

Today Miss Tracey, Miss Rachel and Miss Abigail attended the IDTA Yorkshire & Humber Theatre Area Meeting!!💜

We enjoyed fantastic training sessions from Lisa Handley in ‘First Voices’ and the new ‘Advanced 1 Modern Jazz’ syllabus, continuing to expand our knowledge, develop our teaching skills and bring fresh ideas back into the studio🩰.

Our Adult Jazz class is a lively, energetic class that explores a variety of jazz styles, from the sparkle of Musical Theatre to the latest Pop Hits and everything in between.

Whether you’ve never danced before or you’re returning after a break, this class is designed for everyone. We’ll learn exciting new routines in a friendly environment, build confidence, and improve coordination and fitness - all while having fun!!

This October, we’ll be filling the studio with Halloween magic — get ready for a spooktacular day of DANCE, ACRO, CRAFTS, GAMES and MORE at our ever-popular CGDC Halloween Dance Camp!👻

🗓️ Tuesday 27th October 2026
⏰ 10.00am – 3.30pm
(With the option of early drop-off from 9.00am!)

Our camps are designed for children currently in Reception to Year 5. You don’t need to be a current CGDC student — everyone is welcome (so why not bring a friend along too?!)
