Sooo, I had an accident on holiday last week and have badly broken (well, shattered) my elbow.
I had surgery on it on Sunday, and am now sporting a fabulous new sling and bandage combo, with some metalwork 'souvenirs' holding what's left of my elbow in place. Obviously this means that I will not be able to run classes this term, but everyone on my interest list has been contacted, and I'm very much still planning to restart when I have recovered. Step & Glow Fitness classes will sadly have to wait a while, but I'll keep you updated XX

This was me, 7 months pregnant with my eldest (yes, that is a hamster sat on my shoulder, obviously 😂). During my first pregnancy, I was going to the gym once, or twice a week, right up until 37 weeks, and still kept up with walking.
My second pregnancy: different story: Covid Lockdowns meant that gyms had been closed, and complications early in the pregnancy left me scared.
I didn't fully understand the details of exercising during pregnancy like I do now, and rather than taking any 'risks', it felt safer and easier to just stop. I did keep walking, and was of course chasing an extremely active 2 year old around by this point, but I was not as active, or as comfortable second time around.
I really wish that I had known more about exercise during pregnancy at that time, because actually those early complications had, thankfully, not progressed into anything worrying.
If I had known as well as I do now, EXACTLY what to look out for; what the best exercises and activities were; how to handle changes in my posture (my bump was MASSIVE 😂); and how to adapt better, I think I'd have had a much more comfortable and confident pregnancy experience with that pregnancy.
I've always been an 'exercise for mental health' girl - it just makes me feel better in every way.
I want YOU to have the confidence to exercise throughout your pregnancy, and beyond, knowing that you're safe and supported, and that we know what to watch out for and how to adapt your exercise to keep you and baby safe.

Did you see it?
Our homemade projectors were surprisingly effective, but we got very lucky and a lady gave us a pair of proper eclipse glasses.

So what are we all doing about the eclipse this evening?
Is anyone going somewhere particular to get a better view? Managed to get the proper eclipse glasses?

Myth: If you didn’t do exercise before pregnancy, you can’t start now.
Truth: For most healthy people with an uncomplicated pregnancy, this is a great time to start exercising, even if you haven’t done it in years!
Be sure to start small and increase gradually, listening to your body as you go. Any physical activity counts, so why not begin by going for a walk – if you take a friend along you can be sure that you’re sticking to a safe pace as long as you can keep the conversation going.
However, if you do have a serious long term condition; or have been told that you have a weakened cervix; or are at risk of premature birth, then please speak to your healthcare provider first.
