🏏Saturdays Teams🏏
🏠Bilton first team are at home again and looking to continue the recent good form, The Bartlett brothers return to the team as does Tom Main and Andrew Walker. 1st team call up for Rhys Meredith which will bring delight to the village of Cowthorpe. The Merediths are some of Cowthorpes most famous names along with the historic oak tree (no longer with us), grade 1 listed church, Arnold Warneken and Sir Bryan Roucliffe (or Brian Rouclyff), who was a lawyer and Baron of the Exchequer (no longer with us).
⏰12 Start at Home
🚙The second team head back to the suburbs of York to play Osbaldwick. There's more to Osbaldwick than a B&Q superstore. In 1852, the Church was allowed to sell off land, and Osbaldwick Manor was sold to Thomas Samuel Watkinson, later the Lord Mayor of York. A deal which had he been alive in the 1850s would see our land agent Johnny Cordingley rubbing his beige chinos with glee, he’d tell the church to split the manor and land up into more lots as Mr Watkinson is loaded and in 150 years they will probably build a hardware superstore around here.
⏰ 1pm Start.

🟠Tom Walker is sponsored by comedian and writer Ivo Graham 🟠
Thank you to Ivo for supporting Bilton in Ainsty CC/ T.Walker. Ivo is nearing the end of his tour of the show Orange Crush with one date left in Leeds. You could also treat yourself to a copy of his book Yardsticks for Failure. He has featured on everything from Taskmaster to Mastermind. What a lovely chap aswell.
Sadly due to work commitments and fatherhood Tom is seldom seen in Saturday cricket but long standing cricket fans will not forget the glorious Wetherby league years which included his top score of 93 not out away at Thorner. Our former successful evening league captain can now be found coaching our juniors.
Ivo has also sponsored our under 9s team, post to follow for those guys. 🤝

🏠 A great win for the seconds set up by a brilliant partnership by Noah Melling and specialist number 10 William Swires. Clifton Alliance must have thought they’d be tucking into the Dixon families Quiche in no time at 115-8 but they weren’t expecting Prince Rupert Drives Liton Das to stride out to the crease, 77 from 51 balls. Following a mixed week for him as his families box (buxus) hedge has succumb to the box caterpillar and his brother didn’t actually get engaged in spite of online reports. Another great batting display from Noah Melling as he scores 89 not out. Stats show All Stars volunteers score runs the following day. The twos then went on to bowl out Clifton Alliance for 197 despite 108 for Nat Taylor. 3 wickets for Swires and 3 wickets for Rory Coe. Thank you to everyone for coming down to support today.

🚙The first team who have found form over the bank holiday head to Bolton Percy. Captain Dom Exton returns to the side. Bolton Percy soil is strong loam over clay, Loam lover and strong boy Will Bartlett will be looking to do same as Monday and hit some maximums. Bolton Percy’s crime rate is very low at 22.9 crimes per 1,000 people making it a safe place, Bolton Percy’s defences need to be safe on Saturday as Samar is coming for their middle stumps. ☝🏻
⏰12 Start at Bolton Percy CC
