This is the page for swimming pools operated by the Dunedin City Council – Moana Pool, Te Puna o Whakaehu, Port Chalmers Pool and St Clair Hot Salt Water Pool. Te Puna o Whakaehu Updated 1030am - Things are warming up, the showers are now warm, looking to be back to normal late this afternoon

Te Puna o Whakaehu Update - 7.00am Wednesday 23rd Sept

Due to heating challenges overnight, Te Puna o Whakaehu may feel slightly cooler than usual today. The pools remain open, however the water temperature is a little lower than normal. Unfortunately, the showers are currently cold.

We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Our team is working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and restore normal temperatures.

UPDATE 5.30am - Wednesday 23rd September - Moana open and back to normal hours

UPDATE 1.30PM: Unfortunately due to the lack of water at the facility we will not be reopening today, Tuesday 22 September.

UPDATE 10.45am: looking closer to 2pm reopening.

Moana Pool is temporarily closed due to a burst water main.
We’ll update this post as soon as we have more information about reopening which we believe to be around 10.30am.
We apologise for any inconvenience.

The replacement tiles have now arrived and work to replace the spa pool tiling at Te Puna o Whakaehu will begin on Monday 21 September.

The work is expected to take around three months, and we are planning for the spa to reopen before Christmas.

To get to this point we have collaborated with our contractors, who are replacing the tiles under warranty, so there will be no additional cost to ratepayers.

We acknowledge the spa is popular among our many users and apologise for the disruption.

Moana Pool’s Leisure pool will be closed from Monday 21 September - Friday 2 October for scheduled maintenance.
“What! but that’s the school holidays”!

We’ve come to the party with plenty of FREE fun to make up for the closure!

The hydroslides are FREE and open:

👉 Monday 21 - Friday 25 September, 9.30am - 8pm
👉 Saturday 26 September, 8.30am - 7pm
👉 Sunday 27 September, 10am - 5pm
👉 Monday 28 September - Friday 2 October, 10am - 7pm

👉 5m diving board sessions on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 October, 10am - 2pm
👉 5m diving tower sessions on Monday 5 October, 10am - 2pm

⚠️We’ll create additional fun space in the Learners and Main pools where possible but there is no space available during these times:
Monday 21 September: 3.15pm - 7.15pm
Tuesday 22 September: 3.15pm - 7.30pm
Wednesday 23 September: 3.15pm - 7.30pm
Thursday 24 September: 3.30pm - 7pm
Friday 25 September: 3pm - 7.15pm
Saturday 26 September: 7am – 9am.

From Monday 28 September, public fun space will be available in both the Learners and Main pools for the rest of the holidays. Hooray!

Te Puna o Whakaehu: Unexpected Pool Closures Today

Update: 7:15am, the Hydrotherapy pool is back open. We are still working on the learners pool.
Update: 7:54am, the learners pool is also back open.

Morning, unfortunately, overnight we've had some unexpected issues pop up with the Hydrotherapy and learners pool. They are both currently closed, while we have staff onsite assessing the issues. The 25m and leisure pools remain open. Updates will be posted here as we learn more.
