Wellington Softball is proud to announce our U19 Boys Representative Head Coach for the 2026/27 season!

👏 Congratulations to: Joel Harris

Joel is a passionate and dedicated softball coach with over 10 years’ experience across junior, youth, Premier, school and representative softball programmes.

He is focused on developing players through strong fundamentals, skill progression, leadership and a positive team culture. Joel leads by example, believing in doing the work, supporting his players and letting his actions speak for themselves.

He is a humble, team-focused coach who is committed to helping players grow, enjoy the game and reach their potential.

We wish Joel and his management team every success as they begin preparations for another exciting representative season.

Wellington Softball is proud to announce our U19 Girls Representative Head Coach for the 2026/27 season!

👏 Congratulations to: Craig Symons

Craig is passionate about developing athletes at all levels and growing the game of softball. He brings extensive national and international playing experience, along with over 25 years of coaching across senior, junior and representative softball.

Craig has successfully coached and developed players and teams, while also contributing as a committee member and Junior Convenor with Pareplim, Porirua and Cardinals. His experience includes running clinics and tournaments, school coaching, and supporting player development.
He has also been involved with ISA tours as U19 Girls Manager on two tours, providing valuable experience supporting athletes both on and off the field.

Craig’s coaching approach focuses on developing players, sharing his knowledge and creating opportunities for athletes to grow and achieve their goals.

We wish Craig and his management team every success as they begin preparations for another exciting representative season.

👏 Congratulations to: Regan Foote

Regan has been a dedicated member of Kapiti Coast Softball Club for over 10 years, bringing passion and commitment to developing players and building strong, successful teams.

He has achieved great success throughout his coaching career, including leading an undefeated team and winning the Colin Ward Tournament. He has also coached Wellington representative and NZPA teams to top-three tournament finishes.

Regan is an innovative coach who thinks outside the box and goes above and beyond to support his players. His focus on skill development, confidence, teamwork and helping athletes reach their potential makes him a valued and respected member of the softball community.

We wish Regan and his management team every success as they begin preparations for another exciting representative season.

👏 Congratulations to: Wayne Laulu 👏

Wayne brings an incredible wealth of experience and knowledge to the team, with a remarkable career spanning the highest levels of national and international softball. A veteran of the Black Sox programme and multiple-time World Champion, Wayne has earned a reputation as one of New Zealand’s most respected and accomplished players. Known for his incredible power at the plate, athleticism in the outfield and ability to perform under pressure, he understands what it takes to compete and succeed on the international stage.

What makes Wayne’s appointment even more exciting, however, is what he brings beyond the diamond. His knowledge, leadership, professionalism, competitive mindset and genuine passion for developing the next generation will provide our girls with an incredible opportunity to learn, grow and challenge themselves.

Wayne understands the importance of teamwork, resilience, discipline and representing Aotearoa and Wellington with pride, and we know he will inspire our girls to not only become better softball players, but better athletes and teammates.

Congratulations to Mark Stevens – Kapiti Softball Club Life Member!

We’re thrilled to congratulate Mark on being awarded Life Membership of Kapiti Softball Club.

Mark has been a fundamental part of the club’s growth and success over many years, serving as both Treasurer and President, and most recently as our Patron.

He’s been a real figurehead for the club and someone who has always been willing to share his knowledge, offer advice and help guide the club towards where it needs to go. Just as importantly, Mark has been a constant support to new committee members, always ready to lend a hand, pitch in and help get things done.

Mark, thank you for the incredible amount of time, patience, commitment and care you’ve given to Kāpiti Softball over the years. Your contribution has made a lasting difference to our club and the people who are part of it.
