It’s Mental Health Awareness Week, an annual national public education campaign coordinated by the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH), to open the eyes of Canadians to the reality of mental illness and reduce stigma.
As an active third space we encounter, feel and share the struggles of the people in our community. While we know that movement supports and improves mental health, and our team certainly cares and wants to help, we also advise seeking care beyond our scope of practice.
Here’s some Mental Health resources we’ve gathered. Please save, share or pass along:
For regular mental health care, local clinic PITC Psychotherapy In The City is a great resource to connect you with the right therapist for your needs, IRL or URL. Psychotherapists and social workers are registered and covered by extended health benefits (up to X amount stipulated by your provider).
CAMH CAMH Foundation offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and related services FREE and publicly funded through Ontario Health. The program is designed for adults 18+ living in Ontario, who are experiencing mild-to-moderate mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, and challenges with executive function.
For acute mental health concerns:
Call or Text 988 – Su***de Crisis Helpline:
Immediate emotional distress and su***de prevention, if you or someone you know is having thoughts of su***de, or you are experiencing severe emotional distress or a severe mental health crisis.
Call or Text 211 – Community & Social Services: When you need access to social services, such as housing/shelter, food banks, addiction resources, or non-emergency mental health referrals.
We are all proponents and advocates of seeking the Mental Health care you need.
See you at the studio soon to move in collective care and wellness 💜.
