Getting results isn’t always about going heavier or harder.
Sustainability in your training will alway take precedence over the intensity of your workouts and be a key component to your long-term health.
While we believe in moving your body in some way every day, you can't train hard all the time. The more challenging days in the gym need to be balanced with easier days, such as long walks or slow aerobic training.

Goal setting is an incredibly important part of the OPEX coach-client relationship because it holds both parties accountable to the training program.
Having goals helps create direction for you to train towards, and your coach to program to progress you towards.
OPEX Gatwick Coaches use a SMART approach to help you set goals that are attainable, realistic, and inspiring.
Rather than saying, ""I'm going to get fit"", try setting goals like this:
➡️ Specific - I'm going to exercise 3 days per week to improve my work capacity.
➡️ Measurable - I will test and retest my OPEX Work assessment with the goal of a 10% improvement.
➡️ Attainable - My coach and I have agreed that this is a realistic timeline.
➡️ Relevant - After recent bloodwork my doctor suggested that improved cardiovascular fitness is important for my heath and I want to be able to keep up with my kids.
➡️ Time-based - In 6 months I will retest my OPEX Work assessment.

We don't typically fall for fitness challenges as so often they're short lived and unsustainable.
But this is one challenge we can stand behind.
The commitment to move your body, in some way, every day. Inside or outside. Walking, running, playing, swimming, spinning, rollerblading, wrestling...
Whatever movement you choose, daily movement has so many incredible benefits that go so far beyond aesthetics.
Mental acuity, emotional wellbeing, enhanced cardiovascular fitness, better movement efficiency, improved insulin sensitivity, recovery, and function—these are all amazing reasons to get outside and move every single day!

While most people may opt for the right column when an energy slump hits, these quick fixes may be doing more harm than good.
Rather than reaching for an energy drink or attempting to energise yourself with an intense workout or sugary snack, we suggest implementing the lifestyle behaviours on the left.
It may take some time and establishing new routines, but we promise they'll pay off in the long run!
✔️ Dial in sleep quality with good sleep hygiene - dark, cool room, no electronics or light before bed, etc.
✔️ Get sun exposure in the AM - 15-20 minutes in the mid-morning should do it
✔️ Daily movement - think sustainability and blood flow, not intensity
✔️ Protein and fat for breakfast for stable blood sugar
✔️ Drink water - half your bodyweight in oz at a minimum

➡️ Be empowered to be the decision maker in your household around healthy behaviours.
➡️ Reflect on the relationships and environments that may drive poor habits, and strategies to avoid or mitigate these.
➡️ Brainstorm healthy activities that you can share with your social circle.
