Transfer printing- Richmond

joined us at Richmond group this week, bringing with her boxes full of botanicals, birds, beasts, vintage scenic vibes and patterns all printed onto special paper with specific ink that when placed onto fabric and subjected to heat and pressure, transfer onto some specially made zipped pouches that members get to enjoy forever.

Everyone starts off with the same options to chose from so it’s very exciting to see which direction members take their compositions in.

Gillian will making the rounds until Feb so may be at your local group soon! www.pimmsandneedles.co.uk to find out more

Podcasts-

For those members that have been around for some time, you may know Sharon Queen of Green from our Terrarium workshops that took place just after lockdown. She’s also a long time host of Northallerton, Richmond and now Bedale groups, so a face you’ll maybe meet along the way.

We’ve recently had Sharon on our podcast Bloom in Life, where she shares her passion for houseplants, how Queen of Green was born and some valuable lessons on keeping houseplants thriving in your space.
As well as the health benefits and the odd story or two about her lived experience.

Markets and workshops are her thing and she sells online too at www.queenofgreenhq.com

Gem trees 🌳

Stokesley group enjoyed making some of these lovely wire and gem chip trees this week. Choosing from colours and composing them in the positions they felt most happy with. At the end they all got to choose a silver charm to add to the tree if they wish.

Making these really lovely personal makes and perfect for gifting.

❤️ "The first-time nerves"

One of the biggest barriers for some joining Pimm's & Needles is walking in alone.
This is a recurring topic and conversation we have with many ladies who are "on the fence" about joining us......" I'm worried about coming on my own? I don't know anyone!"
We promise, so were most of us. Many ladies (over half!!) have joined solo and had to take that one, small, first step into the unknown.

We have tired to make it easier by having "Flying Solo" tables, where everyone is new and everyone is looking to meet people. We can help when you arrive by getting you familiar with some of our older members and committee and our hosts are always happy to help if needed.

We also highly encourage new members to drop a comment on to the groups page (search Pimm's and needles + groups location eg Pimm's and needles Bedale) you're joining, perhaps saying hello, asking if anyone wants to car share/meet you outside or would be willing to sit with you/show you the ropes. This is a great way to break the ice before attending.

By the end of the evening, you'll probably have forgotten you were nervous and will go home with a creative spring in your step and no doubt cake in your belly!! 💜

Fond farewells 🫶🏼

It is with a pinch of sadness but so many memories that we say goodbye to Nicky who’s decided to step down as our Lanchester and Chester le street host. Nicky has been part of the Pimm’s and needles family for a while now as a member and a host so she will be missed. We wish Nicky all the best for her future endeavours.

Our groups will be left in the capable hands of a long time member, so we’d like to welcome Amy Mitchell who will be taking over those groups as a new host and we wish her all the best for her new role.

Three cheers for Nicky 🥂………

🧘‍♂️ Sound Bath & Wellness Session – Are You Up for Trying Something New?

This month, we're doing something a little different for our Free Men's groups Old Dogs New Tricks Men’s Club

Back in July, we ran this session with our women's groups, and the feedback was incredible. Many of the ladies had never experienced a sound bath before, but they absolutely loved it and said they would definitely come again.

So now it's over to the men... Are you up for the challenge of trying something new that could help you relax and unwind?

A sound bath isn't a bath with water! Instead, it's a deeply relaxing experience where you simply lie down, get comfortable and listen to the soothing sounds and vibrations created by instruments such as singing bowls, gongs and chimes.
The gentle vibrations are believed to help calm the mind, reduce stress and encourage deep relaxation. Many people say they leave feeling refreshed, clearer-headed and more at ease. You don't need any previous experience – just an open mind and a willingness to give it a go.

The session will begin with a short, informal talk about holistic therapies, what they are, how they work and the benefits they can offer. You'll then be guided into the sound bath, where you can simply relax and enjoy the experience.

What to bring:
A yoga mat or exercise mat to lie on (recommended)
A blanket to keep warm and cosy
A cushion for extra comfort
These aren't essential, but they will help you get as comfortable as possible so you can fully relax.
Whether you're curious, looking for a way to switch off for an hour, or simply fancy trying something completely different, we'd love you to come along.
Why not give it a go? You might just surprise yourself!

🌼Members Monday🌼

This evening we want to share some amazing friendships that have come out ladies joining Pimm’s and Needles.

A group of our Bedale ladies went to SUP SUP Active Yorkshire (paddle boarding)at Ellerton lake this weekend, organised by Sharon who’s been our Northallerton host for over 8years (also Richmond and Bedale)

Lots of these ladies started the Bedale group alone, have struck up new friendships and met new ladies and tried new things from month to month at our sessions.

We highly encourage these connections to grow outside of groups and Sharon, after chatting with members about paddle boarding set up a private begginers session for those interested.

“I am so busy at groups myself been a host that I rarely get time to join in or chat in length with members. That hasn’t stopped me meeting some amazing ladies and when this activity came up in conversation at group I jumped at the chance to organise an adventure. With 12 ladies brave enough to join me, we all took to the water and throughly enjoyed our 2hr session. I am so proud of all the ladies for giving this a try and even more so of all the ladies who join us at groups across the North East, to carve out two hours for themselves once a month. Jumping into the unknown, even if it’s scary meeting new people and trying new things.”

So there you have it, I know we can’t offer paddle boarding at our groups but we can provide an amazing starting point for friendships and future adventures beyond those meetings.

This feature will be a regular one, so if you’re a member who’d like to let us know about your experience and successes of joining a group, drop us a message.
