Less Than 5 Minutes To Make

One of my go to breakfasts and pre-workouts.

I make this 4-5 times a week.

High protein. Low effort.

Here’s exactly how I build my cream of rice.

60g cream of rice 🍚
30g caramel biscuit protein 🍪
Hot water mix until smooth 💧
100g fresh strawberries 🍓
80g frozen raspberries 🍇
8g peanut butter drizzle 🥜
Dark chocolate on top 🍫

453 calories. 32g protein.

No microwave needed just add the boiling water and job done.

My daughter said 4 words to me.

“Daddy, you’re getting fat.”

That broke my heart. But I laughed it off in the moment.

A few weeks later we came back from holiday. I walked down to the kitchen one morning, the kids were already at the table having breakfast.

I grabbed a pack of Jaffa Cakes off the side.

My boy looked up at me and asked if he could have one.

I said no.

Think about that for a second. I was eating Jaffa Cakes in front of my kids for breakfast and telling them they couldn’t have one.

No structure. No standards. Just do as I say, not as I do.

So the next morning my daughter looked at me and asked for Jaffa Cakes for breakfast.

She wasn’t being cheeky. She wasn’t being difficult. She was just doing exactly what she had watched her dad do.

I had normalised it. I had made it acceptable. And my kids were learning from it every single day without me even realising.

That was the moment. That was it.

I was setting an example every single day. I just wasn’t paying attention to what that example was.

So I made a decision. Enough was enough.

I locked in. Not for me. For my wife. For Zahara. For Ieuan.

I had to set a better example for them. Full stop.
