Absolute nail-biter...neck and neck throughout.

Defence were on fire; Emily S and Thea were fierce and nailed the intercepts/rebounds; great performance all round.

There was some lovely mid court play / progression down the court worked really well. Sarah’s link up play at C was supreme (deservedly OPOM).
Becky smashed it with her drives and positional play at WA.
Shooters were ace; big cheer for Aimee smashing it coming into the magpie fold and Emily H reliable as ever at GS. Both kept their cool heads to get the winning shots in the last few seconds of the game. 👌👊

Badgers have taken the fire from the first match of the season and run with it.

We found our groove quickly and started building a strong lead from the first quarter. Kitty rejoined the squad and immediately slotted straight in to a defensive brick wall with Sarah B. They were relentless, creating immense pressure, intercepting, and turning over ball after ball. Sarah’s leans were unbeatable, bashing some shots down immediately after they were leaving the shooters hands.

Liv, Sue and Nikki were our centre court trio and they were flying!
Liv was integral to successfully bringing the turnover balls back up court and worked well creating different options through the centre third.
Sue had a fab full match at C (along with some beautiful cartwheel style entrances to the goal circle and some amazing passes and feeds to invisible players) she was rapid through centre court, controlling the play and feeding perfectly into the shooters.
Nikki was her usual nippy WA self, bursting through for the centre pass, hitting the pocket for the long ball and firing the ball into the shooters, always ready for a swing ball or to support on the edge.
Me and Cerian were the shooting pair again tonight and we continued on our groove from the last match. Cerian kept up with bringing the sneaky Superleague moves onto court, impressing everyone on both teams and the umpires. Creating a great little trio with Sue and Nikki bringing the centre pass to goal, she whipped in and out the circle, constantly creating new space and setting herself up perfectly to get her shots up and in.
I had great fun alongside her, receiving Nikki and Sues beaut feeds (as well as some rockets from Liv and Kitty in the centre third)

Good fun for the badger ladies and a great win.

Ravens 22 - 46 Rockets

Ravens put together a centre court heavy squad last night to take to the slippery court against a super talented Rockets 1st team side and absolutely smashed it! An intense start saw us go 9-0 down but we clawed our way back into the game, had a stunning Q3 7-7 and finished strong with a very respectable score line and an enjoyable match.

Becki and Aimee smashed the shooting circle, developing a lovely rotation and popping little shooter-to-shooter connections. Shooting was on point from both and their grit, problem solving, adapting throughout the match and work rate earned Aimee OPOM and Becki joint POM! ✨

Emily started out in GK and covered the circle beautifully, but shone even brighter in WA feeding the circle, constantly offering against a relentless defence and working so hard. Amy, Clare and TJ were all fantastic in C, WD and WA - moving the ball through, balancing a congested attacking space, always there for resets, playing smart netball and turning over so many balls on the circle edge! Woop woop🤍🖤

Debs and me covered the circle the rest of the game, with Debs smashing it taking out so many flies, pressuring the ball off the back line and reading the play forcing them to play around. I had three quarters in GD and was voted joint POM for my jumping and attacking through court out of the transition 🙌🏻

Another strong game for the BB’s tonight & the best vibes !! 🤍🖤

We had Jess, Em & Ames rotating in the circle tonight! Jess & Em both with their strong holds and Amy driving front at the perfect time 🤩 Em had a blinder tonight in defence and attack, our versatile queen 👸

Defence was made up of Rose, Rach, Em, all 3 of them getting so many intercepts and touches, as well as the leans 🤌🏼 We welcomed back Rach to the BB’s and she smashed it, slipped right back in like she’d never been away 🔥

Our middies were Al, Ginnie and myself, also shout out to Ginnie for sliding into C for the last half and didn’t miss a beat (new position??😉) Al was always an option through court and sent some lovely long feeds. We all worked together to bring the ball through court and down to our shooters 🫶🏻

What a way to start the new season!

Joined by Flora tonight, Badgers were raring to go and first quarter we went 10-4 up!

Flora and Hannahs partnership in defence was fab to watch - intercepts, insane leans, blocking out the shooters for rebounds and snazzy skills keeping balls in court.
The second quarter shows just how well they smashed it, with only 1 goal being scored down their end allowing us to increase our lead to 16-5.

Kasha, Sue and Nikki were flying up and down court, always ready for turnovers - of which there were many - taking the ball up court between them before sending stunning feeds into the goal circle and being ready to support on the circle edge.

3rd quarter we went to 21-10, ready for a tough last quarter with Otters fired up for a comeback.

Myself and cerian were the shooting pair tonight and we settled in to a great rhythm. Cerian was popping in and out the goal circle, far too fast for her defender to keep up whilst I was holding hard ready for the incredible long bombs from Flora in centre third, and the perfectly placed overs from Sue under the post.

We finished up 28-15 and were all buzzing, brilliant teamwork from us all!!!

Athena 21

A great battle for Magpies tonight. They were neck and neck for the first three quarters but sadly Athena pulled away in the last quarter.
Up front in the circle we had Lucy and Amy. Lucy’s debut: smashed it with good movement, worked with Amy well, sunk the shots. Amy had a blinder - impressive work in and out of the circle and super long bombs🔥🔥🔥
Sarah in C earned OPOM for her relentless pressure and great control of the game ❤️. Pippa at WA; great drives and chasing of the loose balls!!!
Defence was Ruby WD (so much energy and presence), Thea at GD; great reading of the game and impressive intercepts, and Emily GK; super tips and making the shooters work hard for the ball. 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤

Great effort and onwards and upwards!! (I have told Scorpions to watch out for us 🤭😂❤️)

A lovely game tonight against a speedy opposition. Tonight’s HtG team had not played together before and had a debut from the fabulous Sophie at GS. Sue and Kasha shared C and WD being great at both, Sue was always available to support and Kasha got some amazing interceptions. Hannah and Becky worked together superbly in defence and won back so many balls. Cerian and Sophie’s movement and shooting was spot on assisted by some well worked balls in from me at WA with Sue/Kasha The game was neck and neck for the first half with goaldiggers leading at the end of the third quarter but we felt we’d figured them out and went back fighting into the last quarter winning by two! 🎉

BB’s 40 - 8 Gems

A strong first outing of the summer season for the BB’s!!

Everyone came with positive vibes & excited to get back to it and we carried that mentality out throughout the game ✨

Our defensive trio was made up of Rose, Em & Thea, any combination working seamlessly together! Rose was our Queen of the Lean and getting everyone loose ball in the D 👌🏼Em and Thea got some blinding intercepts and work rate up through court was unreal 👏🏼

Our middies this evening were Gin, Al & Els , a strong trio to be contended with, Els was getting free for every C Pass, Ginnie was turning over multiple of the defences C pass and was always there for the reset, Alex was here there and everywhere really controlling the play up and down court 🔥

Myself and Jess were back in our shooting duo this evening, playing a great role of holding and popping forwards and also a great rotating circle, we both gave multiple options and with the great feds and work rounds from Alex & Ellie ( and some from Thea! ) we put up the shots with ease🤩🤩
