I didn’t spend tens of thousands of pounds on extra training/workshops/mentoring to go with my years of Pilates training to not use that knowledge to better improve the results of my clients. If I feel someone needs a cheeky rehab/breakdown/complimentary exercise, and it’s not from the original Joseph Pilates repertoire, you better believe I presume he won’t mind!

It’s not that I’m against weight-loss goals, and it’s not that I judge you if that’s what you personally sell - it’s just not my bag. It’s never my personal goal (there’s a lot of privilege there, I’m aware), it’s not what I’ve trained in, and it doesn’t excite me. There’s lots I CAN do for you, but offer to help you lose weight as your primary goal isn’t one of them.

I have big plans. I know The Bump Plan®️| TTC/Pre/Postnatal will continue to grow and help thousands more women. And I’m confident that I can do that whilst also knowing in my heart that it didn’t negatively affect the kids 🤞🏻

There are times in my life I’ve been super strong and fit. There have been times where I’ve come out of a 3-day traumatic labour and not given 2 💩’s about fitness. My clients have trained with me through 2 pregnancies, 2 caesarean recoveries, and multiple races/event training panics. My fitness levels/body shape/strength have little relection on my skills as an instructor and more to do with the fact our bodies and fitness change through life - AND THAT’S NORMAL!

I’ll happily discuss pelvic floor function, bowel movements, diastasis, labour, relationships, hormones, mental health etc etc if it helps someone else. I’m an open book and since I’m not on Instagram to get laid, I’ll keep going.

Whilst I daily want to show the world how freaking adorable my 3 and 7 year old are, there’s just something for me about strangers seeing my children’s faces, AI threats, and their lack of choice in what I share, that doesn’t sit right. I love seeing everyone else kids (selfish I know) and have no judgement on others sharing, but I don’t see the benefit to showing mine, even when I work in the motherhoo

Dorset summer so far ❤️ Too much fun, not enough sleep, lots of sun, and so much unforgettable time spent with the kids, and friends I hope we’ll have forever.

They shouldn’t have let me work the gate at Seeker Festival 👆🏼 but what a joy to get to support such a great local festival Seeker Festival and friends Joe, Harriet and John who organised such an epic weekend!!

Seeker Festival was an absolute highlight!! Amazing and varied music I wouldn’t have found otherwise (highlights included this is the kit Blind Yeo and The Breath), so many friends under one festival “roof”, a night time glow-worm hunt with the kids where we spotted a mating pair (classic festival-goers), perhaps too much local beer and cider and lots of laughing!

A visual representation of the kids this summer. Falling asleep anywhere, sweaty and muddy. What I’d give for a midday nap on a hay-bale at a festival, mid-hug 😴

Kit 😍 Wet hair, post-swim, pre-fish and chips, weekday evenings by the sea. Our current fave evening dip is at Kimmeridge Bay 🌊

Freya’s natural habitat 😍 Fossil-hunting and rock-pooling. No one finds more ammonites than her 🔍

The beauty of living by the sea is that all your friends want to come down and stay with you ❤️ and we love showing them the area.

There’s not much I love more than a morning at our local The Saltwater Sauna | Nordic Bathing and a long swim in the cove. Pinch me moments. And the staff are pretty epic too Anna-w Endean Emilie Brixey

Lulworth Castle in the Sun ❤️ it has an amazing playpark the kids love (free to use) and the grounds are stunning. You only pay for parking and to enter the castle if you want to, but the whole area is 👌🏻 Plus we’ve got Camp Bestival Dorset here in 2 weeks 🥳

Is there a better tent view in Dorset!? We are obsessed with Brownsea Island and the campsite is a real highlight. The kids love the resident peacocks (even if they do love creeping into your tent) and we’ve spotted seals, red squirrels and so much wildlife! 10/10 campsite!

Stu’s yearly Brownsea Island nature scavenger hunt for Freya ❤️

Bird spotter in the making, if he wasn’t so noisy he scared all wildlife away.

Shreddies breakfast on the beach. Filthy habit. ☀️

While I was getting ready for the Studland SwimRun on Saturday, Freya decided to interview me from the back of the campervan.

To be fair, she was asking exactly the same questions I get asked every time I mention SwimRun.

Why do you need a whistle?

What’s that gel for?

Why are you putting that on your neck?

And whilst the kit list can look a bit intimidating at first, most of it is there to make the experience safer, more comfortable and a lot more enjoyable.

For anyone who’s curious, the main bits of kit I use are:

🏊‍♀️ Versa SwimRun Wetsuit
🥽 ZONE3 Venator-X Polarised Goggles
✋ ZONE3 Ergo Hand Paddles
👟 HYDRA ESC SwimRun Trainers
🛟 SwimRun Pull Buoy
⚡ PF30 Gels
🧴 Anti-Chafe Balm
📣 Swim Whistle

The race itself was tough, beautiful and one of those events that leaves you exhausted but already thinking about next year. Turns out as I get older I can’t just wing events - I’ll do more training next time as I was 10 mins slower this year!

Huge thanks to Freya for asking the questions everyone else was thinking ❤️

After interviewing, hiring, mentoring and training hundreds of Pilates instructors over the last 15 years, I’ve noticed something.

New instructors often think their biggest challenge is learning how to teach Pilates. In reality, their biggest challenge is usually learning how to teach Pilates whilst still being themselves!

It’s completely understandable. You’ve spent months preparing for an exam where you’re expected to know everything, get everything right and demonstrate every exercise perfectly. Then you step into a real class and suddenly realise that teaching isn’t just about the exercises, the breath patterns or whether your transitions are seamless.

Clients aren’t assessing you the way an examiner would.
Of course your technical knowledge matters. It forms the foundation of everything you do. But people also remember how you made them feel when they walked into the room, whether they felt welcomed, whether they felt comfortable asking questions and whether they left feeling stronger, more confident or more connected to their body.

Some of the best instructors I’ve ever worked with weren’t “perfect” teachers. They were warm, adaptable, curious and genuinely interested in the people standing in front of them. They knew their stuff, but they also knew how to connect with a room.

Ironically, many instructors become much better teachers when they stop trying so hard to be perfect. The moment you allow a little more of your personality into your teaching, everything tends to feel more natural - both for you and for your clients. Everyone feels more at ease!

Pilates instructors: what’s one thing you wish someone had told you before you taught your first class?

After 15 years in the Pilates industry, these are probably the opinions that get me into the most trouble 👀

Some of them have come from:
– running a studio for over a decade
– interviewing and mentoring hundreds of teachers
– teaching thousands of clients
– watching Pilates become increasingly commercialised, aesthetic-focused and, at times, a little elitist

And honestly, I don’t actually think disagreement in our industry is a bad thing.

Pilates should evolve.
We should question things.
We should challenge old ideas.
And we should absolutely be having conversations about accessibility, inclusivity, education and what actually makes someone a good teacher.

Because for me, Pilates has never been about performing the fanciest exercises, owning the most equipment, or creating the “perfect Pilates body”.

It’s about helping people understand and trust their bodies better.

Anyway, I’m sure at least one of these will annoy somebody 😂

So I’m genuinely curious:

Which one do you agree with most?
And which one would you argue with me about?

Twenty minutes. That’s how long it took to go from opening the box to being in it.

Cold water has been part of my life for years — sea swimming, saunas, that whole hot/cold rhythm that I genuinely believe makes a difference to how I recover, how I sleep, how I feel during heavy training blocks. But getting that consistently at home has always been the gap.

We’re slowly building a proper recovery space in our garden — the MyoIce Elite is the first piece in. And I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting to be quite as impressed as I am. It’s inflatable, but it doesn’t feel it. It’s sturdy, it lives outside, and the MyoChill unit just quietly keeps the water where you set it without any of the faff I’ve had with other options. No ice bags. No temperature creep. It’s just there, ready, whenever I need it.

With Half Ironman training where it is right now, that consistency matters more than I can really explain in a caption.

We’re adding to the space over the coming months — would you want updates as it comes together? Drop me a comment, I’d love to know if this is something you’re thinking about too.
