£120,000 investment brings free swimming opportunities to Preston residents 🏊

We are delighted to announce that Preston City Council has awarded GLL £120,000 to deliver a Free Swimming Campaign, providing eligible Preston residents with free access to swimming sessions and swimming lessons.

The campaign features six targeted offers designed to remove financial and accessibility barriers, ensuring more people can experience the physical, mental and social benefits of swimming and being active in the water.

Our programmes cater for all ages and abilities, with qualified instructors and lifeguards on hand to provide support in a safe and welcoming environment. We also offer specific sessions to help ensure swimming is accessible and inclusive for everyone.

This investment will enable more residents than ever to improve their health and wellbeing, build confidence in the water, learn vital life skills, and establish healthy habits that can last a lifetime.

National Lifeguard Appreciation Day! 🏊🚨

Today, we're celebrating the incredible lifeguards across GLL Leisure Centres in Preston who work tirelessly to keep our customers safe, supported and welcome every day.

Did you know? Being a lifeguard is about so much more than being a strong swimmer.

Our lifeguards complete monthly training to ensure they are always ready to respond in any situation, including:

✅ CPR and life-saving techniques
✅ Using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
✅ First Aid response
✅ Incident management
✅ Emergency procedures both in and around the pool
✅ Customer safety throughout the entire centre

Whether they're supervising the pool, providing first aid, helping customers, or responding to incidents, our lifeguards are often the first point of contact for everyone who visits our centres.
Their dedication, professionalism and commitment help make our facilities a safe and enjoyable place for thousands of people every week.
