Its finally happened...the last one has flown off to secondary school. I was worried that she wasn't going to get up in time after the 10am starts all holiday, so I woke her up to the boo radleys! She was more annoyed about the song choice than the early hour! Feeling mixed emotions 😕

Happy birthday to our lovely lottie. 11 today and ready for the next chapter at secondary school. We love her for her independence, love of dolls (even built a school for them during covid), her amazing DJ skills and sense of humour. She never fails to put a smile on our faces! Struggling to get baby to sleep because of the heat? With the weather warning ⚠️ in place until early next week, I have asked some new mums in my baby yoga class for their top tips for keeping their babies cool..these are the tried and tested methods:

⛱️ stay in the shade of a tree if outside

🛁 run a cool bath before bed

🤽‍♀️ play in a paddling pool

🍉 introduce cucumber/melon and refreshing foods for weaning

🍼 feed little and often for maximum hydration

🌙 keep nightwear to a minimum (a nappy)

🌬 place a bowl of ice cold water in front of a fan in the room where baby sleeps

Dehydration is common in the heat, so watch out for smelly p*e, dry eyes and p*eing less often. Offer sippy cups, regular bottle/breast top ups.

Nothing like a yoga nidra nap during relaxation in my baby yoga class! Loving my new koshi chimes for the anahata (unstruck sound) chakra as it mimics the air that we breathe to help our heart beat! The babies were so calm and almost all fell asleep - the ultimate gift for growth!

This workshop is a great way to give your partner a role in your birth experience and to work effectively as a team to help ease labour. A continous supportive presence can cut labour by 1/3 due to the love drug, Oxytocin, so why not learn ways to fuel it in labour!

Due to high demand for my pregnancy yoga classes and the fact that I close late July & August, I have decided to run an online course which will start next Thursday 16th June from 6:30-7:30pm via zoom. It will cost just £42 for the 6-week course which will mirror the content in my in-studio classes.

The theme of the course is 'shakti power' as we tap into the innate wisdom within our bodies so that we can build resilience to stress and embrace change. The postures, self-massage, breathing and meditation practices are designed to help in labour and in life to improve sleep and reset the central nervous system.

This week in my postnatal yoga classes we have been using balls to unblock trapped energy in the body. Our mothering circle discussion was around our emotions and how we 'hold' stress in our bodies which can physically manifest as pain in the neck or back, joint stiffness and lead to anxiety/depression.

Check out my free Zen In Ten video below which was taken from my baby yoga class. I demonstrate how we can use our balls for EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), acupressure and breathing to release stagnation and how our babies can benefit from improved digestion and sleep as a result.

My new series starts this week! My 'Supple spine for spring' series helps to work supporting muscles to help strengthen and lengthen the spine to help prevent back pain, which effects 80% of us in our lifetime. "We are only as young as our spine is flexible" so learn somatic exercise, yoga and breathing to stay young and flexible!

Every year there are 7 million GP appointments for back pain and it costs the UK economy £10 billion. Yoga is now proven to be as effective as physiotherapy for treating back pain and it is the cheapest and quickest way to get help.
