Always With Me! ❤️

Being a parent is the best thing ever but the bigger they get, the less they start to need you!

They go from always wanting to hold your hand to it being really uncool to do so!

While mine are still little enough to still want to hold Dad’s hand I needed to take advantage of this.

Thanks to Craig BLACK CRAFT TATTOO they will forever be holding my hand, long after they stop needing too!

“Marc… What Can I Do To Be Better?”

That’s the question Latasha asks me almost every week when she checks in.

She isn’t looking for shortcuts or overnight results. She simply does what needs to be done, then looks for the next small improvement.

And she’s done that consistently for many months.

When Latasha started working with me, her goals were fairly typical:

To lose some weight.
Get into better shape.
And build a consistent fitness routine.

She achieved all of those, but somewhere along the way, her journey became about so much more than weight loss.

She started running.

At first, completing a 5km was incredibly tough.

Then that 5km became 10km…

The 10km became a 10 mile trail run…

And a couple of weeks ago, she completed a 10 mile race in under two hours! 👏🏻

Something she probably never imagined she’d be capable of when we started.

Next up is her first half marathon in October!

And she’s already talking about potentially completing a full marathon next year! 👀

Latasha’s journey is a reminder that you don’t need to know how far your fitness journey will take you.

You just need to start.

Keep turning up, stay consistent and continue asking yourself:

“What can I do to become a little bit better?”

You might surprise yourself with what you’re capable of.

A massive well done, Latasha.

Everything you’ve achieved has come from your hard work, consistency and willingness to keep pushing yourself.

I’m incredibly proud of you, and I can’t wait to see what we achieve next 😊

Marc’s 5 Holiday Habits.

This week I am away on holiday with the family, so here are my 5 habits that I will stick to while I’m away….

(I will practice what I preach here as this is what I tell all my clients to do)

1. Enjoy It - I work hard and I’m always busy so this week is time to switch off and enjoy some quality family time and make some memories.

2. Food - I won’t weigh or track any food this week as I’m on holiday but I will make some sensible choices.

Just because I’m on holiday doesn’t mean I’ll turn into a pig and eat everything in sight.

My plan is to have some structure to my breakfast, lunch and any snacks but the evening meal will be out with the family and I will enjoy it.

Oh and ice cream is unlimited! 😊

3. Activity - I won’t train at all this week as I will give my body a well deserved rest but I’ll make sure I stay active and still get my steps in.

By keeping my steps up, I’ll stay active, my body will burn more calories each day and then will limit any damage from being away.

4. Sleep - I don’t get anywhere near as much as I should so I’ll make sure I get some quality sleep and rest up properly so I’m fresh when I get home.

For many, holiday is a great opportunity to destress, relax catch up on some sleep and turn off that annoying morning alarm!

5. Hydration - I usually drink a lot of water each day anyways so I’ll easily make sure I keep this up while I am away.

Plus, I’m boring and don’t booze so it will mainly be alternating water with my coffee.

Going away on holiday should be fun and enjoyable but at the same time you can still keep a little structure with some simple habits

Now where’s that ice cream van? 😊

Saltaire 10 Mile ✅

About a year ago, running my first 5K felt absolutely disgusting…

And I certainly didn’t enjoy it as it felt like a chore.

Fast forward a year and I’ve just completed 10 miles and have my first half marathon coming up next month.

I’ll be honest, I wanted to finish today in under 1 hour 30.

I came in at 1hr 36 mins averaging pretty much 6 mins per km.

The perfectionist in me was initially disappointed, but with a niggly foot injury and being in quite a bit of pain from 3km in, today was more about completing the distance and not stopping.

But I’ve learnt over the last few months is that running has given me far more than faster times and longer distances.

At the finish line, I got talking to another guy about what running does for us as we were both relatively new to it, and I found myself saying:

“When I’m running, I feel FREE.”

It’s become an opportunity to Escape!

When you work closely with people, day in, day out you naturally absorb a lot of their emotions.

Clients share their worries and struggles with you, and although I’m always happy to be there for them, it can be difficult to sometimes leave everything behind when you go home.

Especially when you have your own life and your own emotions and struggles in life to process too.

So running has become my escape.

When I’m out there, for that moment in time everything else just disappears.

It gives me space to think, process my own feelings and simply feel free.

I never expected running to do that for me.

I’m still my own worst enemy.

I’ll set a target, achieve it and immediately start looking for the next challenge.

(Sorry wife) 😭

But today, I’m taking a moment to appreciate how far I’ve come.

From finding 5K a chore to running 10 miles knowing I can do more within just a year.

Now I’ve got 5 weeks to focus on my rehab to get this foot right and prepare for the next thing on the running to do list…

My first half marathon. 💛
