The Annual Takaro Shield Challenge between Wilton BC and Karori BC was held yesterday with some fierce competition on display across a series of games in both Fours and Pairs formats.

When it was all said and done, Wilton BC prevailed to retain the Shield for another year.

A great day of friendship and bonding was had by all, topped off with a super BBQ lunch and some after games drinks. Thanks to all players from both clubs and Brian Lennard for running the day.

Wilton BC'S great mate Nigel Burn from Karori BC mixed it up on Sunday with the best on offer at the Champ of Champs Mens Singles semi finals.

Whilst the result didn't go Nigel's way, he gave a great account of himself and capped off an amazing season. Congratulations Nigel from us all at Wilton BC and we look forward to seeing great things come your way next season!

Yesterday brought a close to this year's final Club Championship with the completion of the 1-7yr Development Pairs.

After a series of great and competitive games over Saturday and Sunday, the final came down to the teams of Brian/Terry and Alan/Craig.

The final was a game of two halves, with Brian and Terry storming out to a big lead of 8 shots turning in the last 5 ends. But never being out of it, Alan and Craig rallied back to just fall short, going down by 1. Congratulations to Brian and Terry being crowned the deserving Champions.

A huge Congratulations also to all our Development players out there playing and competing for the Club. We are building a good future as our player depth continues to strengthen.

Was not to be for our Champs Pairs teams over the weekend, but both teams gave it a red hot crack in wet and wild conditions.

Our girls won 1st up and progressed to then go down to the gun team of the Signal ladies from Stokes Valley in a hard fought and close match.

Our guys also progressed and then found themselves down for the count against the tricky Massey Avenue team. They then fought their way back from a 7 shot deficit with a few ends to go and pushed the game into an extra end. Unfortunately, it didn't go their way and the boys bowed out.

Great work from Alex/Trish and Craig/Alan. Doing Wilton BC proud!

Here's some photos from the Bowls Wellington site of our guys in action.

The penultimate Centre Champ of Champs kick off tomorrow with the Pairs commencing. We have our very own Alex and Trish in the womens tackling the best Wellington Centre has to offer out at Lyall Bay, and our mens team of Craig and Alan mixing it up at Upper Hutt. Good luck to both teams out there going hard for Wilton BC!!!
