Over the weekend, the Raumati Bowling Club held their annual Junior Pairs 1-5 years 242 competition.

This is a very popular and well organised event and entry is very popular and fills up quickly. Restricted to 32 teams, players participate in 4 matches on day 1 to determine rankings and divisions for day 2. Such is the level of interest that there was a waiting list of 17 players.

Bill & Lindsay battled hard on day 1 ending with 1 win, 3 loss record (7-12, 8-10, 14-7 & 8-12). As a result they were placed into the division 3 competition held on day 2 with 15 other teams.

The weather although cold and chilly to start improved across the day and this reflected in the results, 3 wins and 1 loss ( 9-5, 6-7, 10-9 and 8-6) to finish 4th out of 16. Although disappointed to lose game 2 by 1 point, Bill & Lindsay showed true grit and fortitude to close out games 3 & 4 on their last bowl when the result was not looking good.

Lindsay delivered a cracking drive in game 3 which required the umpire’s long measure to get the all important 3rd bowl. In game 4 with the game delically balanced, Lindsay produced an awesome draw shot to take out 2 opposition bowls sufficient to earn another great win.

Congratulations to both for an outstanding effort proudly representing Wilton BC.

Wilton BC held a "triple header" on Saturday with its AGM, Awards Presentation and the 75th anniversary celebrations.

The highlight of the AGM was the induction into Life Membership of two absolute legends of the game Howard Ivory and John "the Sheriff " Earles. Recognition of these two fine clubmen and champions of the game was unanimously celebrated by all.

Wilton BC is steeped in tradition and significant success and this was illustrated amazingly through a pictorial and narration of our history through to today in celebration of our 75th anniversary.

We were blessed to have past, present and future champions of the game, members, family and friends in attendance, celebrating late into the night our anniversary and another successful year.

Our success is both on the greens and off them and our little club continues to punch above its weight on all counts. Our success would not be possible without the continued support from our bowlers, staff, volunteers, members, friends, family, sponsors and our community.

We thank one and all for your continued support as we look forward to an even bigger and better season.

Below are but a few photos from festivities with many more to come, as well as a trip down memory lane.

It was fantastic to have some of our Life Members join us for our 75th anniversary celebrations over the weekend.

Their presence, support, and shared memories made the occasion even more special. Thank you for being part of this significant milestone and helping us celebrate 75 years of history, friendship, and community.

The Annual Takaro Shield Challenge between Wilton BC and Karori BC was held yesterday with some fierce competition on display across a series of games in both Fours and Pairs formats.

When it was all said and done, Wilton BC prevailed to retain the Shield for another year.

A great day of friendship and bonding was had by all, topped off with a super BBQ lunch and some after games drinks. Thanks to all players from both clubs and Brian Lennard for running the day.
