Balance is not about standing perfectly still.
It is about finding steadiness while everything is moving.
In Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana, we work with the whole body: the standing leg gives us stability, the spine creates length, the chest opens, and the lifted leg reaches into space.
And this is exactly what makes yoga so interesting — balance is not something we simply have or don’t have. It is something we learn, develop and refine through practice.
With the help of a chair or the wall ropes, the pose becomes accessible to everyone. The props give us support so that we can focus on what really matters: awareness, alignment and creating space in the body.
As B.K.S. Iyengar said:
“Balance in the body is the foundation for balance in life.”
And perhaps this is one of the beautiful things about practising together — we learn to find our balance, one pose at a time.

Asana of the month - Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana
This pose is often seen as a test of balance.
B.K.S. Iyengar teaches us to see something else.
Balance is only the result. The real work is in the foundation.
Grip the standing leg firmly. Lift the kneecap. Root the foot into the earth. From that stability, extend the trunk and the lifted leg away from each other, creating space before you revolve.
The twist is never forced. It grows out of length.
As the back ribs move in and the chest revolves, the spine becomes lighter, the breath freer, and the mind quieter. Every part of the body has a role to play, yet nothing is done with aggression.
Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana reminds us that yoga is not about going deeper into a twist. It is about creating intelligence throughout the body, so that effort and ease exist together.
A steady foot.
A long spine.
A quiet mind.
That is where the pose begins.

Some people think yoga only works if you have an hour or more.
It doesn’t.
B.K.S. Iyengar used to say that even 20 minutes of sincere daily practice can change your body, your mind, and your life. The real magic isn’t in doing more—it’s in practicing regularly.
Some days your practice will be strong. Other days it will be quiet and simple. Both matter.
That’s exactly why we keep our daily classes running throughout the summer. Having a class to come to makes it so much easier to stay consistent, and consistency is where the transformation happens.
One class at a time.
One breath at a time.
One day at a time.
Come and practice with us. Whether it’s your first class or your thousandth, we’ll meet you where you are.
Your body will thank you today. Your future self will thank you even more.
