The first is you have no idea what is going on in other people’s lives which is one of the reason it’s not fair to compare. Also, it’s not fair to you, because you are not them, and vice versa. Maybe they only focus on one or two areas where you have to focus on many more because of other responsibilities you have.
The second is that being “the best” or focusing too hard on the end result is the wrong place to put your focus. A lot of what goes into being “the best” is outside of your control.
Essentially, what this boils down to is where you put your focus. Do you put it on things you can control or do you put it on things and people you can’t control. Think about it.

The scale is a finicky thing. You could be doing EVERYTHING right, and that stupid thing is still going to have days or weeks where it appears to be heading in the wrong direction.
Want to know something interesting? That same trend of oscillating up and down, happens when people are trying to gain weight as well.
When you encounter days or weeks where you’re not seeing the number you want, that’s a good time to audit your behaviors (are you being as accurate as you think?) and then focus on the indicators of progress - like how are your energy levels? - how are your clothes fitting? - how is your mood/quality of life?
Most importantly, don’t use that number as an excuse to give up on you effort. It is still working. Keep going.

165g kodiak cake power cake mix
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg white
190g over ripe bananas
1 scoop protein powder
85g fresh blueberries
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup water
Mix everything together in a bowl and cook at 350°F for 18-22min.

Building good foundational habits is essential to long-term success.
The most important story is the one you tell yourself.
Life gets hard. Workouts get hard. Nutrition gets hard. Relationships get hard.
Check yourself. What stories are you telling yourself when these things happen? Are they the right ones? Are you being tough on yourself? Are you talking to yourself differently than you would talk to somebody else?
It can be scary to do hard things. To go all in. To feel fully seen. It can feel scary to be vulnerable to failure.
Be gentle and lean into discomfort rather than finding the out. Be ok with not knowing if what you’re doing is good enough.
So what if you fail. Failing is a heck of a lot more successful than never trying.

Having problems hitting your protein some day?

There are ✌️ main types to concentrate on:
DYNAMIC - a form of active stretching that is performed by engaging the muscle’s through the joint’s range of motion, therefore increasing blood flow. Think before your workout warm-ups. This type of stretching is critical in preventing injuries and increasing athletic performance
STATIC - what typically comes to mind when talking about stretching. It is a form of active or passive stretching in which you hold a position for about 30-60sec+, allowing the muscles and their connective tissues, fascia, to lengthen. Think after your workout. This type of stretching is really only recommended once the muscles and tendons are already warm and have a significant increase in blood flow.

I’m a Pharmacist answering the hotline for the Drug and Poison Information Center for Cincinnati.
What made you come to Pivot?
I was already an Ignite member and I loved the community and coaches there. It made sense to move to Pivot with everyone I had been working out with already for years. And also, Pivot was fresh, new and exciting!
What’s your favorite thing about Pivot?
One of my favorite things is the variety of the workouts each day so that you never get bored or tired doing the same thing.

What is your coaching experience?
CrossFit has been a significant part of my life since 2013. I immediately fell in love with and saw the benefits of the mythology of the sport. Living in South Louisiana, where health and fitness aren’t a top priority, I saw a need in my community for a gym that could help educate people about exercise and nutrition. That led my business partners and myself to open CrossFit HomeBrew in 2015. We owned the gym for 5 years, helping hundreds of people achieve their health and fitness goals.
I also met my amazing wife through CrossFit. After marriage, we relocated to Birmingham, AL in 2019 for her to attend optometry school.
What is your full-time job?
I currently work for CrossFit HQ in the Education and Training Department as a Sr. Project Manager.

What is your favorite thing about Pivot?
For me, I love the wide variety of workouts. Although the workouts are incredibly challenging, it’s a constant movement that makes the time move faster. I am inspired by the other members and how hard they work. Seeing them work as hard as they do makes me want to be better and work harder while igniting that urge of a friendly competition. I may never win, but I’ll get stronger along the way.
