The HOTWORX Hiking Team set an altitude PR of 20,000 feet and are safe to tell the story of the Mt. Aconcagua expeditionπ₯
We are so proud of Steve, Jeremy, Victoria & Amanda! In the 12 day expedition, the team endured extreme cold temperatures, chilling winds, worsening altitude sickness & many other challenging factors during the expedition. At 20,000 feet, the team had to descend down the mountain due to a myriad of reasons that would risk the lives of the team. The determination and grit the team displayed to overcome those challenges is admirable!
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported this journey. We will be producing a short documentary of the expedition that will be released in the upcoming weeks! The GoFundMe will stay OPEN until a week after the release of the documentary!

Meet Jim Fulks! If you are a member of the HOTWORX Facebook group you will see his posts and his words of encouragement to other HOTWORX members. He is one of our most dedicated members and we love to see him come in! Thank you Jim for being an amazing member! We β€οΈyou! This is his testimony! When I first learned about HOTWORX I knew I would like it because I love hot weather. It was only a couple sessions in I was addicted while most people thought I was nuts. Early last year I was not able to go as much as I wanted because of my travels. February last year my cholesterol numbers were bad. So much that I almost had a heart attack. Well first thing I did was more HOTWORX. I tried to keep walking as well like my doctor suggested but soon realized I was walking myself into knee and hip replacement because I was in constant pain. So I stopped and again increased HOTWORX while struggling with eating habits. At my January checkup I confessed to really bad eating habits over the holidays which got me a not so good response from my doctor. So needless to say when I got my labs back I was over the moon excited. Let me just say my story is not unique to the HOTWORX community. This is a lifestyle and at 64 years old I have not felt this good mentally or physically probably since I was in boot camp 45 years ago.

After 8 grueling hours of hiking in the valley of the Andes Mountains on Thursday, the HOTWORX Hiking Team made it to base camp right before a snowstorm! For the past 4 days, they have been acclimating there to prepare their bodies for the ascent to the summit. Statistically, altitude is the most important and dangerous factor of Mt. Aconcagua. The guides tell them this is a great elevation to acclimate to the elevation without their bodies decaying so it is essential for safety and success in the higher camps and to summit. The team passed the medical evaluations with normal levels of oxygen saturation, blood pressure, no fluid in our lungs, and only mild, normal altitude sickness symptoms.
Today, the team will begin a 4 day ascent to the summit. It is fairly a quick ascent due to the weather risks, so their bodies will be put to the ultimate test. Here is what the next 4 days will look like:
πCamp Canada - 16,568 feet
πCamp Nido - 18,241 feet
πCamp Colera - 19,586 feet
πSummit - 22,834 feet
The hiking teamβs summit day is the 19th! It is a 14 hour day with 9 hours of ascending uphill through snow and high winds to the summit. The conditions are a lot colder on Mt. Aconcagua than what it usually is during this time, so much so that other teams have not been able to summit this past week due to extreme weather conditions and risk of avalanches. The teamβs summit day is supposed to be one of the first days with conditions sustainable for attempting the summit. They will be facing extremely cold temperatures, snow, bitter wind chill, extremely high altitude and very low oxygen levels.
As they leave base camp today, the team will be off the grid with no contact. Please keep them in your thoughts that all team members do not encounter any of the severe altitude sicknesses/edemas and are able to safely and successfully summit the tallest mountain in the Southern & Western hemispheres.
