Due to student attendance, Tatsuki got a private lesson with Miyake-sensei!
Direct instruction from an Inter-High athlete...
What a valuable opportunity!
I'm so jealous!🤣

result
1st place - Yudai MIyake (3-4 dan division)
3rd place - Tatsuki Fukuzawa (Youth A division)
3rd place - Levi Kruse (Youth A division)
Congratulations!!!

Also, we had more people participating from TKI in this tournament than ever before—14 adults and 3 kids!
We were able to form three Adult TKI teams and one Youth team, and every single team gave it their absolute all.
Unfortunately, TKI team A lost in the quarterfinals and could not get a prize, but we were very close!!
Now, everyone is gearing up and starting fresh for the next tournament!

Last but not least, a huge thank you to the Charlotte Kendo Club for presenting such a great tournament!

【Washington DC Kendo Cup 9/5/2026】
TKI did a great job at the Washington D.C. tournament!

Kim sensei : 1st place in Senior division 🥇
Miyake sensei : 1st place in 3&4dan division🥇
Tatsuki : 1st place in youth team (9-12y) division🥇

I think it was a fun tournament, with many people making their tournament debut. It was great to see everyone having a good time and gaining valuable experience.
Especially Thuc and Tatsuki's debut was great!!!
Thuc won 2 matches with wonderful Kote strikes!!💪
Tatsuki won the youth team (9-12y) match, and scored several ippons with hiki-waza that he learned directly from Miyake sensei💪
（Amazingly, his team went on to win the tournament despite being one player short and starting with a guaranteed loss.）

Even those who didn't achieve other results put on a wonderful performance in their matches.

A big thank you to Yong Back sensei (Hokubei Budogu - Kendo Shop in North America) for organizing such a wonderful tournament!
