📗One of the biggest misconceptions about journaling?
That it needs to be deep, lengthy, or time-consuming.
Sometimes all it takes is three simple prompts:
💚 1 thing you're grateful for
💚 1 feeling you want to embody
💚 1 small action to support that feeling
That's it.
A tiny check-in that helps you focus on what matters, create a little more intention, and move through your day with greater clarity.
For example:
☕ Grateful for: My morning coffee ritual
💚 Feeling: Grounded
👣 Action: Step outside barefoot for 2 minutes before work
Small actions.
Big impact.
Repeated often.
If you'd like a simple way to build a journaling habit that sticks, the Plant Positive Journal was created to make reflection feel easy, enjoyable, and meaningful.

💚 The older I get, the more I realise this...
Ease isn't the absence of challenge.
It's creating a life where the things that matter most become easier to do consistently.
This week in my 2-6-9 email, I share the simple acronym that's helping me create a little more ease right now — especially after welcoming winter (and my first cold in years 🙃).
Plus:
🐴 A huge win for horses in Canada.
🐋 A hopeful update in the fight to end Icelandic whaling.
🎙️ Why the problem was never the cage.
📗 A journaling prompt I love.
🌱 A ridiculously clever sushi recipe.
🌶️ Crispy sesame tofu tenders that immediately made my "must make" list.
And, of course:
💬 2 Quotes
🌟 6 Wins, Recommendations or Recipes
💚 9 Words to Contemplate
This week's 9 words:
"Ease isn't passive; it's thoughtful design in daily life."

The problem was never the cage.
It was the belief that living beings exist for us to use.
In E937 of the podcast, I’m joined by Amber Canavan from PETA to unpack one of the most successful marketing stories in animal agriculture: "cage-free" eggs.
Because while the label sounds compassionate, the reality tells a very different story.
💔Hens are still confined by the tens of thousands.
💔 They suffer broken bones, respiratory disease, infections, blindness, and chronic stress.
💔 Male chicks are still killed shortly after hatching because they can’t produce eggs.
💔 The cage may be gone, but the exploitation remains.
In this conversation, we discuss:
🌱 why humane labels can actually prolong animal suffering
🌱 why so many good people want to believe there’s a kind way to exploit animals
🌱 Amber’s rescued hen Rosemary
🌱 how language keeps us disconnected from violence
🌱 and why the real issue was never the cage itself
One thing that stayed with me throughout our conversation:
If seeing the truth threatens an industry, then the problem was never activists telling the truth.
Huge gratitude to Amber and team PETA for continuing to expose realities industries desperately want hidden.
And thank you for caring enough to keep looking honestly, even when the truth is uncomfortable.
