This Mother’s Day Seminar was all about planting seeds of strength, confidence, and self defense.

Everyone who attended left with a packet of wildflower seeds as a symbol of resilience and growth. Like wildflowers, strength can grow in unexpected places and through changing seasons. In an ever-changing world, we think there’s something powerful about learning, growing, and training together.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Spartan moms, everyone who supports our Spartan community, and the amazing women we had the chance to meet at the seminar.

LAST WEEK AT STICK WEEK

Fast swings. Tight reactions. No room for hesitation.

We worked through defenses against swinging attacks using sticks, bats, and improvised weapons. Not clean. Not predictable. Exactly how it shows up.

Pressure. Timing. Decision making under stress.

This is what real training looks like.

Be ready for the next one.

“I feel like I can do this now. How can I continue training?”

That’s it. That’s the shift.
We saw it all month.

50+ women in a corporate setting in Vaughan and the GTA stepping into self defense.

Women walking into our Intro seminar and choosing to start.

And a returning girls night group showing up loud, strong, and ready for more.

Different rooms.
Same realization.
You’re capable.
And you’re not done.

And this doesn’t happen by accident.
It happens because of the women in our gym who make this space what it is.

Who make it safe to walk in, try, struggle, and grow.
Who show up for each other, every single day.

This is the work.
This is the standard.
And we’re just getting started.

Burlington, we did it, AGAIN!!!! 🥳🥳🥳

We are so thankful for a community that keeps growing and continues to support us right back.

That’s what this is really about.
Building safer communities and getting stronger together.

Now back to the mats…Together.

When it comes to self defense, it’s not about quick fixes.
It’s about understanding the full picture.

Recently featured on Global News, our head instructor Cyrus Osena weighed in on the conversation around pepper spray legalization in Canada.

“It has to be looked at as a tool, put in the toolbox among the other tools that you have.”

https://globalnews.ca/news/11733402/pepper-spray-legalization-canada/

With decades of experience in real world self defense,
Cyrus emphasizes what many miss.
Tools alone do not create safety.
Training, awareness, and decision making do.

This is the difference between reaction and preparation.

What do you think. Should pepper spray be legalized in Canada?

Burlington, we did it!🎉🎉🎉🎉

Because of this incredible community, Spartan Krav Maga was voted multiple CommunityVotes Burlington 2025 winners.

From our youth programs to our adult classes, every person who steps onto our mats is part of this story.

This place is built on hard work, resilience, and people who show up for each other.

To everyone who trains with us, supports us, and voted for us…
thank you.

We’re proud to represent Burlington and even more proud of the community we’re building here.

Now… back to training.

Yesterday, our Teen Leadership Course stepped into something bigger than drills and curriculum.

Each of them took the floor. They led warm ups. They ran games. They stood in front of their peers and chose to lead, even when it was uncomfortable.

We spoke about three roles that exist in every environment. There are bystanders, who stay silent and hope nothing happens. There are aggressors, who intimidate and harm others. And then there are leaders. The ones who step forward. The ones who protect. The ones who take responsibility for themselves and the people around them.

Yesterday, they chose to become leaders.

That choice does not disappear when the course ends. It becomes part of who they are. It shapes how they carry themselves, how they support others, and how they show up in their communities.

I have worked with some of them since they were very young. Watching them grow into leaders who now guide and mentor the next generation is one of the most meaningful parts of what we do.

This is how leadership is built at Spartan Krav Maga.

Through courage. Through responsibility. Through the decision to step forward when it matters most.

When your back hits the wall, you do not quit.
You breathe. You focus. You stay.

That is what the Spartan shield represents.
Pressure. Discipline. Control.

Come train with us and find out what you’re made of.
