Maybe getting stronger is about continuing to show up day in and day out regardless of the setbacks you face.

Becoming stronger and more resilient isn’t about taking the easy path.

It’s about saying “hey this might be hard at times, but I can handle it.”

I still remember when was first learning to deadlift. She had concerns about her back and actually ended up injuring it in the first few months of training together.

She could have chosen to quit at that point but instead she chose to keep going. She kept showing up and her form/technique continued to improve. Slowly her lower body became stronger over time and she continued to progress.

Here she is now hitting 300lbs on the trap bar and only a few pounds away from her 40th birthday goal of 315lbs.

This didn’t happen by accident. Carly chose to be strong and forged her path by refusing to give up and instead continue on the journey.

This is what building a strong body and mind is all about. The journey of life can be difficult at times but we can all choose to keep going and not give up!

I started Trench Fitness in 2011 and Erika quickly joined shortly after when we met in 2012.

What started as a dream — just the two of us, long days, early mornings, late nights, and the hope of building something meaningful for our community — slowly turned into something much bigger than we ever expected.

We started from a small basement space and continued to grow into the space we have now.

Erika has been there through every stage of it. The early grind when everything felt uncertain. Leaving a full time job as a firefighter to pursue my passion. Being shut down and continuing to find ways to improvise and keep our operation running through the pandemic, and all of the ups and downs of being a business owner — we never quit and continue to put our heart and soul into this business.

And right alongside us, our kids have been growing up in it too since 2016.

Our daughter Lily has quite literally been part of Trench Fitness since the day she was born. She’s gone from being in a car seat in the corner while we trained clients, to running around the gym like it was her playground, to now stepping in and having her first day of work with me in the gym.

Yesterday was one of those moments that slows everything down for a second. Watching her take it seriously, seeing her confidence grow, a bit of nervousness, and realizing just how fast time has gone.

It hit both Erika and I pretty hard.

Because this isn’t just a gym to us.

It’s where our family has grown up.

It’s where our kids learned what hard work looks like, what community feels like, and what it means to show up for people.

And now we’re starting to see the next chapter of that story unfold right in front of us.

I’m incredibly proud of Lily. Proud of Erika. Proud of what we’ve built together. And grateful for every single person who has walked through the doors of Trench Fitness since 2011 and made it what it is today.

Without you all, our children wouldn’t be able to experience life in this unique way.

This place means more than words can really explain and we are excited to continue to serve our community and promote a health and fitness lifestyle to all! 💚

Just keep going and don’t quit!

Most people underestimate the power of simple, compounding consistency.

It’s not about how hard you can go for a few weeks or month at a time, but rather what you can sustain over a long period of time.

If missed workouts and a few too many dietary leniencies have become your norm, that may be the reason why you are not making any progress over the long-term.

Taniel has made incredible progress by embracing a long-term lifestyle approach. She is now down 40lbs and is crushing it in our Stronger group and nutrition & training online coaching program.

It’s all about stacking up those little daily wins consistently over time. With a bit of planning and a solid routine in place, success becomes inevitable over time.
