Meet Coach Max A 💪🏻🏋️
“I started training sports when I was six years old. My journey began with Taekwondo and different martial arts like judo, karate, and boxing. But when I was 15, in 2006 I discovered Olympic weightlifting, and everything changed. I fell in love with the feeling of getting stronger every day and lifting weights that once seemed impossible.
I’ve always loved challenging myself and stepping outside my comfort zone. In 2015, I moved from my hometown of Mariupol to capital of Ukraine- Kyiv to grow as a coach and explore new opportunities. Three years later, I took an even bigger step and moved to China, where I spent five incredible years as a Head Coach. Together with my athletes, we achieved great results, traveled to competitions, and created memories I’ll always cherish.
After that, I was ready for another challenge, so I moved to Canada to continue growing as both a coach and a person. Having coached in Ukraine, China, and now Canada, I’ve learned that no matter where people come from, they all share the same goal—to become a better version of themselves. Being part of that journey is what makes coaching so meaningful to me.
CrossFit is the perfect sport for me because it challenges every aspect of who you are. It tests your strength, endurance, mobility, flexibility, adaptability, and your ability to learn new skills under pressure. I especially enjoy high-skill movements that force you to think, adapt, and improve quickly.
My favorite exercise will always be the Sn**ch and the Clean & Jerk. Olympic weightlifting has been a huge part of my life for about 20 years, and I still get excited every time I coach those movements. If I had to pick one movement I’d happily skip… it would probably be double-unders.
I also love competing. For me, competitions are a celebration of all the hard work you put into training. They push you beyond your comfort zone, create unforgettable memories, and remind you that you’re capable of much more than you ever imagined.
If there’s one thing I hope every member takes away from my classes, it’s this: never underestimate what you’re capable of. With consistency patients and the right mindset.”
