π Healthy habits - how to stay active during school holidays
During the school holidays, it is easy to fall out of your normal movement routine - the children are home, work hasn't stopped, and you might be feeling overwhelmed.
π‘ Here's some tips and advice for staying active during school holidays.
π΅ Don't be too hard on yourself if you aren't able to stick to your routine. Remember this is temporary, and doesn't mean all progress has stopped.
π΅ Try doing something that can get the whole family moving. A trip to the pool, a walk in the park or an indoor scavenger hunt for wet weather days.
π΅ Get support from others - it's okay to need time to yourself, especially during school holidays. Don't be afraid to ask others for help during this time so you can make time to meet your own needs.
π΅ Add movement into daily tasks - park a little further away from the shop or get off the bus one stop early and walk the rest of the way; every movement counts.
However you're able to get active this week, just know that every movement is good movement.
School holidays can be challenging, but we know you've got this. π

π Swimming lessons at thrive π
Swimming is an essential life skill, and at thrive we are proud to provide top quality swimming lessons to our community,
There are a number of swimming lesson stages to work through based on age and swimming ability.
Our swimming lesson journey begins from birth, offering sessions for babies and toddlers to build and develop water confidence with support from parents/carers in the water. From the age four years old, children can start their independent swimming lesson journey with us where they will develop confidence and competence through fun. Once learners have completed our swimming lesson pathway ( Stages 1- 7) we offer exciting opportunities to continue their journey by progressing to: Rookie Lifeguard; Aqua Youth and Lifesavers. π¦
Our swimming lesson package includes one lesson per week and unlimited access to general swimming sessions across all our ten pools (fun, inflatable and splashtots and Seaside sessions are not included).

π Know the Water Safety Code π
This summer, we're encouraging everyone to learn the Royal Life Saving Society UK's Water Safety Code.
Whether you're visiting the beach, a lake, river or swimming pool this summer, these simple steps could help save a life:
π§ Stop and Think
Take a moment to look for potential dangers and make safe choices before entering the water.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Stay Together
Always stay close to friends and family around water. Never swim alone.
π Call 999 in an Emergency
If someone is in trouble, call 999 immediately. If you're at the coast, ask for the Coastguard.
π Float if You Get into Trouble
If you find yourself struggling in the water, float on your back, keep calm and control your breathing until help arrives or you can swim to safety.
By learning and sharing the Water Safety Code, we can all help prevent drowning and enjoy the water safely this summer.
