Personal Training Mums of SW London – Do you find it hard to build in time to exercise? Is it near impossible to find time for you? Or is it?
Juggling looking after your children and staying on top of your day to day or weekly tasks is hard, not to mention tiring. Improving and maintaining your level of fitness is made harder by the fact that gym crèches are expensive (and rare) and maybe, when left to your own devices, you are guilty of not working to your full potential on every run, class or visit to the gym. We see countless clients coming to us as a ‘last resort’, desperate to see any improvement in changing their body shape.
Clients that:
❎Train for 3 months, see no changes in the scale and give up
❎Train 10+ a week, are incredibly fit but can’t shift the unwanted fat they want to
❎Exercise, get injured (likely in the same place each time) and give up - only to repeat the same cycle again
So what’s the fix?
✅ Learn quality technique and text book would be proud of
✅ Rehearse that technique until it’s learnt and can be reproduced solo
✅ Control the tempo of both the eccentric (lowering/lengthening of the muscle) and concentric (raising/ shortening of the muscle)
✅ Add load in a timely and progressive manner
Coaching this single principle alone has helped ALL of the client complaints/ barriers to achieving their body/performance goals.
Fact.
Training need to be adaptive and progressive in order to see physiological changes. NOTE: this isn’t always obvious to the naked eye for this with larger holes of unwanted body fat, it is however quantifiable by measuring the fat mass and muscle mass on the body, both of which work in tandem to increase your overall health and a decrease in body fat (especially when you’re eating hugh protein and in a calorie deficit).
Over training, poorly can increase cortisol and prevent you from losing the fat you’re capable of losing. It is also likely that ‘over training’ I.e. going to 10+ classes, with no quality instruction will mean you’re more likely to reduce your energy output. Coaching will keep every rep to a high standard - and burn those calories x3!
Injury prevention starts and ends with technique.
