I’ve always had a love hate relationship with calling myself a model especially in relationship to my body image.

When improving our body image, it’s not quick and it’s certainly not based on a clothes size or our physical body, it’s our emotions, how we feel and think about our bodies.

Esch day can look and feel different especially with that luteal phase🥲

And if you’re looking to improve your relationship with your body, I’m here to support you on that journey, it’s not quick but it is compassionate! ✨

As the running season is upon me and my team with half marathons on the way, it is only right in the spirit of running with that I thought I’d share all the things I take on my runs with me.

Okay if I was going to wear a small running vest:
Jelly babies for fuel
headphones
water
tissues
epipen (niche one that ahah)
hand sanitiser
air tag (just to be safe!)
Lip balm

But if I needed a bag for a half I’d also take:
Make up wipes
powder
a charger or battery pack
Spare socks
more food
allergy tablets
chauff balm
Is there anything I’m missing??

A little reminder than having those anxious gym feelings is normal - even if you’re usually a confident gym girl and a long time gym goer!!

My top tips:
- go on equipment that you are comfortable and familiar either and can look out into the gym to get used to the layout/ surroundings!
- have a good play list in your headphones - your personal hype playlist!
- remind yourself it’s normal to feel a little lost it’s a new environment of course you don’t know everything about it - give yourself some compassion
- lastly another reminder to yourself that you’ve already overcome the biggest hurdle by being there and that if you’ve been to the gym lots before you know it’s something you will and have overcome so go smash that workout!!!

We always hear that food is fuel, but food is so much more than just a way to energise our
bodies.

At its core it’s social. It’s a way to build relationships, spend time with people, make memories,
celebrate.

Losing a few pounds is often not worth the sacrifice that comes with it. Enjoy that time shared with people. It’s not a crime to actually enjoy food!!

When improving our relationship with food I think it’s important to appreciate food as a fuel, especially if you’ve been somewhere like dance college where foods been demonised and you’re encouraged to eat as little a possible and once we realise by fuelling our bodies our performance and recovery is stronger. Than it’s a good thing to appreciate.

And then for me the next stage of improving our relationship with food is recognising it’s more than just fuel so we can start to enjoy it outside of its functional capacity, we’re not shaming over any types of food or where we eat and we start to enjoy food within our social lives and celebrations!

So remember food is fuel but it’s also so much more than that✨
