Exercise of the week!
Squats!
Squats are a great compound movement if you are looking to tone up or improve general fitness. The main muscles used are glutes, hamstrings and quads. Here are some tips when performing a squat:
1. Keep your eyeline forward (do not look up)
2. Imagine you are pushing the floor away as you come back up and keep your heels on the floor at all times
3. Relax your shoulders to avoid rounding the top of your back

Exercise of the week!
Reverse lunges. Reverse lunges are great for building single leg strength, help with balance and hit the Glutes and hamstrings, here's our top tips
1. Start with a ligher weight to get your balance and form perfected before trying to go too heavy
2. Try and go back with the same distance each rep
3. Hinge forward at the hips slightly as you step back to get more Glute engagement.
4. Don't be scared to take a small rest in between legs to get the most benefit from your set.
5. Always start on your weaker leg first so you can match the reps on your stronger side.

Top tips
1. Bar is eye level when you are on the bench
2. Holding position slightly wider than shoulders
3. Engage shoulder blades as the bar comes down ready to push back up
4. Feet planted into the floor for a stronger drive

RDL's are a staple leg day exercise and you can find out doing them in most of our studio classes.
If you are looking to build strength in your Glutes and hamstrings these are for you.

1. Soft knees
2. Tuck your chin in
3. Hinge backwards through the hips (rather than an up and down motion)
