We are pleased to announce that applications for the 2027 summer course of the NSGSO and NSGCB are now open. The residential course will again take place in Stourbridge at Old Swinford Hospital School and will culminate in three concerts in the Birmingham area.

The course runs from Sunday 1st - Sunday 8th August 2027 and the closing date for applications is 9am on Sunday 29th November 2026. The full cost of the course is £650 and applicants need to be aged 13-25 and a member of Scouts or Girlguiding to apply. To find out more about our course, visit our website, nsgso-nsgcb.com.

I would be really grateful if you could circulate this attached flier as widely as possible amongst all Scouts, Explorers, Young Leaders and Network members aged 13-25.

The course is hosted by Birmingham Scout County in conjunction with Girlguiding Birmingham but is open to applicants from across the UK who meet the selection criteria.

To apply for the 2027 NSGSO or NSGCB course and to find out more details, please visit nsgso-nsgcb.com.

For anyone wishing to use this course for their DofE, KSA or QGA residential then this year must be the first time that they have attended.

You will hear by mid December 2026 if your application has been successful or not.

Please email me at [email protected] with any queries that you have.

Please note that the closing date for all applications is 9am on Sunday 29th November 2026.

Cubs out and about at Malvern Show!

Our Cubs had a fantastic weekend out engaging with the public at the Malvern Show!

It was brilliant to see them representing the group so well, with lots of members of the public commenting on how smart, polite and well-mannered our Cubs were.

A big well done to all our Cubs — skills for life in action! ⚜️

Beavers had a wonderful visit to Worcestershire Wildlife Trust at Lower Smithe Farm this week. They enjoyed a walk around the orchard and mini-beast hunting in the woodlands 🕷️ 🐜 It was a fabulous evening!

🌟 Could you help make a difference at 2nd Worcester Scouts?🌟

As we get ready to start a new term at 2nd Worcester, we’re always excited to welcome new volunteers to our group.

Our young people get to experience so many amazing opportunities, learn new skills, build confidence and make memories — and none of this would be possible without our fantastic volunteers.

You don’t need to be an expert in Scouting, and you don’t need to have a particular skill set. Whether you can help every week, occasionally, or behind the scenes, there’s a flexible volunteer role to suit you.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, why not give it a go? You could make a real difference to a young person’s life while having plenty of fun along the way! ⚜️🏕️
