Barracudas Strike Late to Sink Clonard in Aurora Thriller

Bangor Barracudas U16 Girls produced a dramatic late victory over Belfast side Clonard, edging a thrilling contest 14-13 in the main tank at Bangor Aurora.

In a match packed with quality, both teams rose to the occasion with each squad featuring a host of Ulster and Ireland representative players. The game remained finely balanced throughout, with neither side giving an inch in a tense and hard-fought encounter.

With the scores level in the closing moments, Bangor coach Anna Reilly called a crucial timeout to mastermind one final attacking play. The move paid off perfectly as the Barracudas scored the winning goal just seconds before the final whistle.

Bangor Quartet Help Ulster to Historic Win Over Leinster

Four Bangor Barracudas players were selected to represent the Ulster U14 Girls water polo team in the first ever U14 interprovincial match against Leinster.

The historic fixture saw Ulster record a comfortable victory, highlighting the growing strength and depth of youth water polo across the province. The inclusion of four Barracudas players in the squad was another proud moment for the Bangor club and recognition of the hard work being carried out within its youth development programme.

Bangor Barracudas and Smyths Toys Ulster Academy head coach Jane Reilly praised the achievement, saying:

“It continues to be a privilege to coach all the players at Bangor Barracudas and it’s fantastic to see so many players from such a small club go on to achieve representative honours.”

The occasion marked an important milestone for the sport in Ireland, with the inaugural U14 interprovincial fixture providing young athletes with valuable high-level competitive experience.

Bangor Barracudas was established in 2012 to bring inclusive water polo to the Ards and North Down area. The sport is renowned for being great fun, improving water confidence, building strength and stamina and encouraging teamwork. BANGOR BARRACUDAS BOYS GRADUATE FROM ULSTER ACADEMY

Eight players from Bangor Barracudas boys team graduated from the 2026 Smyths Toys Superstores Swim Ulster Water Polo Academy earlier this month.

The Academy, established by Head Coach Jane Reilly, is in its third year and was set up to improve the standard of water polo throughout Ulster specifically for the u14 age group.

This year the Academy fielded a select boys and girls Ulster team to play Leinster in the first ever inter-provincial matches at u14 level, with both Ulster teams winning two competitive fixtures.

Head coach Jane Reilly said: “Huge congratulations to everyone selected to attend our 2026 Academy, it was great to see so many Bangor Barracudas train with the Academy and improve their fitness and technical ability throughout the season. Special thanks go to all coaches who helped out throughout the season, and of course to the parents who ensured the players were able to take part.”

Jane also paid tribute to Bangor Barracudas club sponsors, whose continued investment helps keep water polo in the North Down area. Support from Pinkerton Estate Agents and Production plays a vital role in supporting the club infrastructure and providing pool time for all junior and senior teams.

VICTORIA PINKERTON ACQUIRES NEILL ESTATE AGENTS

After more than a century on Bangor’s Main Street, Neill Estate Agents is entering a new chapter, with its future now in the hands of Victoria Pinkerton.

The acquisition, which took effect on 1 April 2026, brings together the town’s longest established property business with a well-known local estate agency committed to carrying that legacy forward with care.

Neill Estate Agents has long been a familiar and trusted name within the local community. Victoria Pinkerton is clear that this is about more than growth - it’s about continuing something that already means a great deal to many people across Bangor and the wider Ards & North Down area.

The transition has been carefully managed to ensure continuity for clients. The Neill team has moved across to Victoria Pinkerton, meaning familiar faces remain, while Tom Drumgoole will continue his involvement as a Consultant, offering his experience and deep knowledge of the local market.

For clients and landlords, it’s very much business as usual, with the same people, service and day to day continuity in place.

Victoria Pinkerton, formerly known as Pinkertons, has been serving clients across Ards & North Down for 20 years. The business was rebranded in early 2025 and continues to grow, with a focus on maintaining high standards of service while evolving to meet the needs of today’s market.

Victoria said:
“Neill Estate Agents has been part of the fabric of this community for over a century, and that carries real significance. We are very aware that we are not simply taking on a business, but stepping into something with a long history, trusted relationships and a reputation that matters locally.

We’ve experience of bringing businesses together in the right way, and our focus is on doing that carefully, maintaining continuity for clients while strengthening what’s already there. It’s about building on that legacy, supporting clients with the same professionalism they expect, while bringing the additional strength of Victoria Pinkerton behind it.”

Tom Drumgoole said:
“Neill Estate Agents has served this community for a very long time, and I am immensely proud of everything the business has stood for over the years. It was important to me that its next chapter would be entrusted to a firm that understands the weight of that history and has the professionalism, capability and local standing to carry it forward with care. I believe Victoria Pinkerton is the right business to do that.”

As part of the transition, the existing Neill office on Main Street will close temporarily for refurbishment. During this time, clients will be looked after from the Victoria Pinkerton office at 125 Main Street, Bangor. The business is expected to relocate in late May 2026 to 100 Main Street, which will become its new Head Office.

The acquisition strengthens the ability of Victoria Pinkerton to serve clients across residential and commercial sales, lettings and property management, while ensuring that the longstanding Neill presence on Bangor’s Main Street continues in a new form.
