The recent storms served as a very wet reminder to check in with your tyre condition 🌧️

Following a heavy dose of back-to-back wind and rain in Wales, now’s a good time to check that your tyres are ready for the wetter roads ahead.

Correct tyre pressure and sufficient tread both help your vehicle maintain grip. It’s also worth checking for cuts, bulges or uneven wear that could point to an issue.

Noticed that the engine management light's come on, or that your van's hesitating? Perhaps the coolant level keeps dropping?

These are all signs that can all point to an EGR problem, as this 2018 Volkswagen Transporter T6 demonstrates.

Once everything was stripped back, the team found a failed joint allowing exhaust gases and soot to escape into the engine bay.

Following this diagnosis, the van had a full EGR and EGR cooler replacement, getting it back on the road in no time! 🔧

An interim, full or oil service - which does your vehicle need? 🤯

It can be tempting to choose based on the name alone, but the right service depends on your vehicle and how it’s being used. Someone who's covering higher mileage is likely to need extra attention between regular services, while another vehicle may simply need its annual maintenance.

Swipe through for a simple guide to each option. If you’re still unsure, give us a call and we'll be happy to help 📞

Is your vehicle trying to tell you something?

If you've noticed it’s pulling to one side, the steering wheel's sitting off-centre or your tyres are wearing more quickly than usual, your wheel alignment could need some attention.

Having the correct wheel alignment helps your vehicle handle as it should and reduces unnecessary wear to your tyres - giving you more life from your tyres and supporting better fuel efficiency.

At Bridgend Van Care, we use an advanced 4-wheel laser alignment system to take accurate measurements and make the necessary adjustments for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.

A near miss shouldn’t serve as a reminder to check your tyres ⚠️

October's Tyre Awareness Month, and what better way to mark the occasion then taking a few minutes to check your tyres?

Remember ACT for three simple tyre checks to carry out every month, as well as before any long journeys:

A - Air pressures
C - Condition of tyre
T - Tread depth
