A bridge that has weathered the storms…

Standing in Corbridge, Northumberland, reflecting on this beautiful old bridge that has stood through floods, changing seasons and the passing of time.

A reminder that life will bring its challenges, that the waters may rise and the ground beneath us may feel uncertain, but with strong foundations, resilience and time, we can endure so much more than we imagine.

And perhaps that is what bridges teach us best — that even after the fiercest storms, there is still a way forward. ❤️

May we all find the strength to weather our own storms, and the courage to keep crossing into whatever comes next.

Benjamin Cain as Private Peaceful has provided Harrogate Theatre with one of the most compelling profound and extraordinary pieces of theatre I can remember seeing. Quite magnificent frankly. Blew us away … a name to watch for the future. Huge congratulations to Michael Morpurgo. Simon Read and to the amazing Benjamin Cain.

Darling, what an afternoon! 🥂🎭✨

Lunch at La Piola with my gorgeous friend Bec, a cheeky Prosecco before the show — because obviously one cannot go to the theatre without appropriate preparation — and then off to Leeds Grand for High Society.

And what a show! With stand-ins stepping into the main roles, expectations could perhaps have been politely lowered… but there was absolutely no need. They were phenomenal. Truly fabulous performances, wonderful music and all the glamour, wit and glorious escapism you could wish for.

But really, the best part was sharing it with Bec.

There is something rather wonderful about friendship — eating, drinking, laughing, watching brilliant theatre and creating those little golden moments that you know you’ll remember.

A perfect afternoon of good food, good bubbles, great drama and even better company.

And I savoured every delicious second. ❤️

Curtain down. Prosecco finished. Memory made. ✨

Farewell Constantine Bay …..Some places we leave behind, but they never truly leave us — their magic lingers, woven into memory, returning in quiet waves whenever we close our eyes.

There is something about the sound of the ocean that quietens everything.

The waves arrive…
they break…
and they gently return.

A reminder that we don’t always have to rush, fix or control.

Sometimes we can simply breathe, listen… and let go.

Just like the sea, we can begin again. 🌊

I love this seen in the garden of St Ia church in St Ives.

We can’t always choose what happens to us. We can’t turn back time, change the past or know exactly what lies ahead.

But we can choose what we do with the precious time we have.

Who we spend it with.
What we say yes to.
What we let go of.
Where we allow ourselves to wander.
And, perhaps most importantly, whether we actually pause long enough to enjoy the life we’re living.

At this stage of my life, I’m learning that I don’t want my time to be ruled by a timetable. I want space for people, travel, laughter, meaningful work, sunshine, curiosity and simply being present.

So this week, I’m asking myself:

What do I want to do with the time that has been given me?

And perhaps that’s a good question for all of us. ❤️

Seventeen years have passed since you left this earthly life, yet somehow, the love we shared has never left me.

I believe deep love knows no barriers — not time, not distance, and perhaps not even the space between the realms in which we now exist.

Some loves simply become part of who we are, carried quietly in the heart, forever.

There is something about sitting beside the sea that makes the future feel less urgent.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how rarely we are actually where we are.

Our bodies might be sitting somewhere beautiful, but our minds are often three weeks ahead — planning, worrying, organising, anticipating.

And yet, look at this.

The sea isn’t thinking about tomorrow.
The sun isn’t wondering whether it’s doing enough.
The waves aren’t comparing themselves with yesterday’s waves.

They are simply here.

And perhaps peace isn’t something we have to find. Perhaps it’s something that appears when, for a few moments, we stop trying to get somewhere else.

At this stage of my life, I’m becoming much more interested in that.

Not necessarily doing less — but being more present in what I am doing.

Enjoying the conversation while I’m having it.
Tasting the food while I’m eating it.
Feeling the warmth of the sun rather than thinking about whether it will last.
Looking at the person I love rather than worrying about where the relationship is going.

Because perhaps living well isn’t about having every answer.

Perhaps it’s about being able to say:

‘For this moment, I am exactly where I need to be.’

And maybe that is enough.

The sea will keep moving.
Life will keep unfolding.
Tomorrow will arrive whether we prepare for it perfectly or not.

So today, I’m practising something very simple.

I’m here.

And I’m going to let here be enough.”
