The RYA PWC Proficiency Course is a practical one-day introduction to safe jetski handling, suitable for complete beginners as well as riders who want to strengthen their existing skills.

The course covers launching and recovery, low and high-speed handling, collision avoidance, capsize recovery and basic passage planning. By the end of the day, you should feel more confident operating a PWC safely in suitable conditions. No previous experience is required, and the course is open to anyone aged 12 or over.

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course is one of the most useful starting points for new powerboaters. This two-day, beginner-friendly course combines practical time on the water with essential theory, covering close-quarters handling, anchoring, man overboard recovery, towing, high-speed manoeuvres and passage planning.

Training takes place from Saxon Wharf Marina in Southampton, with direct access to the Solent. No previous experience is required, and the course includes a free ICC assessment.

🚤 How to Apply for Your RYA ICC Online 🌊

Planning to sail internationally? The RYA International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is your passport to boating across Europe and beyond! Here's your complete step-by-step guide to applying online.

✅ What You Need: • Be 16+ years old • Hold valid RYA certificates or complete an ICC assessment • Have your own MyRYA account • Passport or national ID • Address verification • Evidence of competence • Passport-style photo (JPG/PDF, under 5MB)

💰 Application Fee: • RYA Members: FREE 🎉 • Non-Members: £75 (Tip: Join RYA when applying to get your ICC for free!)

⏱️ Processing Time: Standard: ~21 working days Fast Track: 5 working days (extra fee)

1️⃣ Visit rya.org.uk and access the ICC portal
2️⃣ Log in or create your MyRYA account 3️⃣ Complete the online application form 4️⃣ Upload all supporting documents
