I had a shocking revelation yesterday evening following our Pride Month Opening Ceremonies Circle… I am not ashamed of being Gay, and have been out to varying degrees since I was 16, albeit verrrry confused a lot of that time with my involvement in Church and Christian activities. In the current state of the world I have been extremely cautious about how I approach things, because this is my Livelihood, and I have most everything to me invested in it, right here, right now. I didn’t know what to expect and how to safely protect myself and others as I branched out into becoming a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ to gather and, in come cases, heal. It’s been a slow start and almost a year since my first Community Class we offered. I am so Proud and glad I took that step, as I have had such amazing experiences and met such great people that I am certain I wouldn’t have crossed paths with otherwise. Thank you to all of you who see this, you know who you are.
Back to my revelation… I found out that I am having to “Come Out” all over again, and that has been a huge part of my fear and caution. I myself have been out and proud, but I have had to effectively go through the same coming out AGAIN, but as DIVO and DIVO Wellness!
The lightbulb went off… and WOW… I couldn’t imagine it any other way… We are here, and we welcome every one, but there is a special place at the table for all those who know what it’s like to be different in a way that society requires a declaration of “I am…”. So here I am; again, coming out…
