I started pole in 2020, literally practicing on my breaks while working as an Operations Manager for Hulu 🙃
At 24, no kids, making a comfortable $50K a year, I did what probably made absolutely NO sense on paper… I quit. 😭
I went from clocking into a full-time job to going ALL mf day and night, pouring everything I had into music, movement, dance, and eventually… my own business. 🥺
The crazy part? I didn’t even start pole with a business plan. I started because I wanted to lose weight. Then people started asking me to teach them… and then they started PAYING ME. 🫠😂
By 2021, I quit my full-time job, and I haven’t worked one since.
BRICK. BY. BRICK. 🧱👏🏾
I moved. I adjusted. I started over. I figured s**t out as I went. In 6 years, I’ve been through 6 different studio spaces and over 300 clients and every version taught me something the next one needed.
This process has NOT been easy, but I swear it’s been worth it. 🥺
I’m healthy. I’m paid. I travel. I dance. I teach. I meet people I probably never would’ve met otherwise, and I’m experiencing things I used to think only the Army would give me the opportunity to experience.
And one of my favorite parts? I put all my little coins into pole… and pole flipped them mf coins right back. 😭🔊💰
I heard this sound clip and laughed because when I started, I genuinely had NO idea what tf I was doing. 😂 I was just doing something I loved and following it wherever it took me.
But NOW?! Whew. 🥺
Now I know exactly what I’m building.
Now I have plans.
Now I have dreams that are way bigger than the ones I started with.
And I’m still building. 🧱💕
Okay, that’s enough vulnerability outta me. 😂
That’s the post. ✍🏾
