Here's one of the many stars of our chair yoga class, my Ma Veronica Ferry - she's on zoom from home in England and enjoys chats with other Zoomies before class, while the rest of us are having good craic in Belfast. They do all finally go quiet in savasana....!
A diagnosis of NPH can stop you in your tracks. Shine Members like Veronica come to us for advice and information so they can keep moving forwards, making the most of the present, adapting their routines, and planning ahead for the future 💛

Sharing this because Ma Veronica Ferry has it, and that's one of the reasons I run a chair yoga class at Maitri Studio Belfast every Tuesday.
Read through the slides to find out more about this under-diagnosed condition.
Come to chair yoga Tuesdays 11.30am if you also have a mobility limiting condition but want to keep moving, work on strength and balance, and relax with mindful awareness 🙂

An article I wrote after conversations with my husband Geoff - we'd watched this interview with jazz pianist Aaron Parks - we find the similarities between the approach to practice whether yoga (me) or music (him)
On practice - the art & science of yoga and jazz
The nature of practiceSome of you know my husband Geoff, the Maitri IT guy, and on the surface we might seem to be very different – me with ...

We were working on knees in classes this week - love the addition of chin on brick here too!
“In Bhekasana the abdominal organs benefit from the exercise as they are pressed against the floor. The knees become firmer and the pose relieves pain in the knee joints due to rheumatism and gout. It also gives relief when there is any internal derangement of the knee joints. The pressure of the hands on the feet creates a proper arch and so cures flat feet. It helps sprained ankles and strengthens them. The pose also relieves pain in the heels. By continued practice of this asana, the heels become softer. Persons suffering from calcaneal spurs in the heels benefit from it as well as Virasana.”

One more teacher to add to our wee crew! William brought cupcakes on his return 😊
Three qualified - William William Hunter and (right) and we're missing in this pic - so just Brenda (second from right) to go!
Just delighted with everyone's progress and continued learning. And it's certainly been beneficial to my own practice, teaching and mentoring as I learn so much from these wonderful people.
I value so much that we've had the kind of relationship where we can be open about our experiences and how we communicate those and interact with each other. Everyone different on the surface but in our souls part of the same universal whole 🌍🤸🏻🩷 and all in love with our yoga practice!
