You actually feel like part of a community rather than just another membership number.”
Reviews like this mean the world to us.
When Steve and Lisa created Yes You Can Gym, they wanted it to be more than a room full of equipment. They wanted a place where people felt welcome, supported and valued from the moment they walked through the door.
So hearing that members are introducing themselves to new faces at 6:20am, making people feel included, and helping create such a positive atmosphere tells us we’re doing something right.
Whether you’re here to lose weight, get stronger, improve your fitness, boost your confidence or simply enjoy a great coffee before your workout, we’re proud to be building something special together.
A huge thank you to Gareth for taking the time to leave this review. It genuinely means so much to the whole team.
💚 More than a gym.

Growing up sports and fitness were not my passion at all, I was the kid that would fake notes to avoid PE at school!! It wasn’t until I was 19 that I even went to a gym, fast forward to 2013…
I was working a 9-5 office job, and one hot summers day I decided there had to be more to life than what I was doing. I left work and decided to turn a hobby into a career, so I applied to get my Personal Trainer qualifications and it was then my journey within the health and fitness industry started.
I started out in a busy corporate gym in the centre of Brighton, and this gave me the opportunity to work with and gain knowledge from several very talented personal trainers before moving back to Worthing in 2016.
This gym has been my home for 9 years, and during that time I’ve developed my skills to teach classes and become a level 4 personal trainer specialising in Diabetes, Obesity and more recently, Cancer Rehab.
The pandemic hit the health and fitness industry particularly hard, and whilst the gyms were all closed, I decided to go to university and gain a degree in Adult Nursing, a career I had considered back in high school.
Since graduating in 2024, my time is now split between nursing at a GP surgery in primary care, and coordinating the exercise referral scheme at Yes You Can Gym.
It’s been a great journey so far, and it’s amazing to be able to use the skills from both my jobs to help people improve their health and wellbeing.
Fit & Fab this morning was AWESOME!
We mixed things up and went full bootcamp style:
⏱️ 20 seconds work
⏱️ 10 seconds rest
🔁 For 2 minutes per exercise
And wow… this fantastic bunch were absolutely on fire!
There was plenty of sweating, plenty of laughs and plenty of determination as everyone pushed themselves through the workout.
What I love most about classes like this is that everyone works at their own level. Some are just starting their fitness journey, some have been coming for years, but everyone encourages each other and celebrates each other’s wins.
Fitness doesn’t have to be complicated.
Move your body.
Challenge yourself.
Have fun.
Repeat.
That’s exactly what these legends did this morning!
Who else loves a bootcamp-style workout?
Yessss! These legends showed up for Women’s Weights this morning and absolutely smashed it!
Lifting heavier.
Pushing themselves.
Cheering each other on.
Having a laugh along the way.
Because strength training isn’t just about building muscle…
It’s about building confidence.
It’s about proving to yourself that you’re capable of more than you think.
It’s about walking out feeling stronger than when you walked in.
One of the best things about this class is the support. Nobody is competing against each other. Everyone wants everyone else to succeed.
Plenty of banter.
Plenty of encouragement.
Plenty of personal bests.
And that’s exactly how it should be.
Amazing work ladies!
This week we have been discussing an article and news about how just 90 minutes to 2 hours of strength training per week can reduce the risk of early death and improve long-term health.
But behind every study is a real person.
Yesterday, Leah deadlifted 70kg.
Now some people will look at that and just see a number.
We see confidence.
We see consistency.
We see someone doing something she might never have imagined possible when she first walked through our doors.
The biggest benefit of strength training isn’t the weight on the bar.
It’s the belief that grows alongside it.
That moment when you realise:
💚 You’re stronger than you thought.
💚 You’re capable of more than you believed.
💚 Your body can do incredible things.
The research talks about stronger muscles, healthier bones and living longer.
We see those benefits too.
But we also see proud smiles
And that’s why we love what we do.
Massive congratulations Leah! 70kg is incredible and you should be so proud of yourself!
Awesome Core Foundations session with these amazing ladies this morning!
When people hear “core training” they often think about getting a flatter stomach or visible abs.
But your core does so much more than that.
A strong, engaged core helps you:
✅ Improve balance and stability
✅ Protect your back from injury
✅ Improve posture
✅ Lift weights more safely and effectively
✅ Move better in everyday life
✅ Generate more power in almost every exercise
That’s why we spend time learning how to properly brace and engage the core, not just doing endless sit-ups.
Think of your core as the foundation of a house. If the foundation is strong, everything built on top of it becomes stronger too.
Today’s session focused on building that foundation, and these ladies absolutely smashed it!
Strong core = stronger body = better movement = more confidence.
What’s your favourite core exercise?
💚 Reviews like this mean the world to us.
Most people join a gym because they want to get fitter, healthier or stronger.
What they don’t always expect is how much it helps their mental health too.
Exercise isn’t just about changing your body.
It’s about reducing stress.
Improving your mood.
Building confidence.
Creating routine.
And sometimes helping lift a weight you can’t see.
Thank you Geoff for your kind words and for trusting us to be part of your journey.
This is exactly why we do what we do.
Most people think motivation comes first.
It doesn’t.
The truth is, motivation usually shows up AFTER you take action.
The workout you nearly skipped. The walk you couldn’t be bothered to do.The healthy meal you almost didn’t make.
Those are the things that create momentum.
And momentum creates motivation
So stop waiting until you feel like it.
Start first.
The motivation will catch up
Why We Believe So Strongly In Strength Training
This week, in the news, a study found that people who do just 90 minutes to 2 hours of strength training each week significantly reduce their risk of early death.
You don’t need a study to see the benefits. We see them every single day at Yes You Can Gym.
We see the member who can finally get up and down the stairs without struggling.
The grandparent who can pick up their grandchild again.
The person whose back doesn’t ache quite as much anymore.
The member who walks a little taller because they’re feeling more confident in themselves.
The person who came in nervous, convinced they weren’t strong enough, only to discover they were capable of so much more than they believed.
Strength training isn’t just about building muscle.
It’s about building a life where you can keep doing the things you love for longer.
It’s about staying independent.
It’s about feeling capable.
It’s about looking after the body you’ll live in for the rest of your life.
That’s why we do what we do.
Not to create bodybuilders.
Not to create athletes.
But to help ordinary people become stronger, healthier and happier versions of themselves.
And if you’re not there yet?
Start small.
Your future self will thank you for it.
